Hi Arrow writers. Am I calm? Nope. Do I care? No. In fact, I would like to point out that you have taken one of the best characters with good character development this season, and forced him to regress. You have forced him to regress for the sake of drama and a storyline.
This is not just about Oliver Queen however. This is also about Felicity Smoak. You have taken a healthy, adult relationship, and basically smashed it to pieces. And for what? Drama? Felicity Smoak, as a woman involved with Oliver, as a person who is deeply involved in his personal and professional life, does have a right to know. Felicity even said it herself, she doesnāt care that Oliver has a child, she cares about the fact that Oliver was lying to her face. Instead, Oliver chooses again to not tell Felicity. This is a big deal. This is a huge, fracking deal. Because this is one of the most healthiest, and honest adult relationships on television today that you have taken with poor writing and plotting, and blown it to pieces. Yes, I know every relationship has its ups and downs, and isnāt smooth sailing all of the time. But, writers, if you wanted drama, you could have easily, EASILY had Oliver tell Felicity, and gain multiple scenarios for dramatic scenes between the two. Felicity could have been angry, and sad, over a child being willingly brought up without a father, Oliver could have been sad, guilty over not being there for William. Felicity could talk with Oliver about her own abandonment by her father. THERE ARE INFINITE POSSIBILITIES WITH THIS.
Felicity is an woman with abandonment issues from her father leaving her and her mother. Iām sure she would encourage a relationship between Oliver and William. She grew up without a father; if Oliver had a choice to foster a relationship with William (which he does, but under extremely poor circumstances) with her knowledge, she would encourage it. Iām sure of it. Absolutely. This could have also been a chance for Felicity to face her abandonment issues again, for the audience to further their journey into Felicityās past when again paralleled with a similar situation in the present.
But now we have a secret, a ticking time bomb of a relationship, and one soon-to-be pissed Felicity Smoak, along with a soon-to-be guilty Oliver Queen. So thank you, Arrow writers, thank you for sacrificing so much about Oliver, Felicity, and Olicity, for the sake of drama, and a barely-there storyline that has been brought up three times in the past three seasons. I believe these characters deserved so much better with this storyline, and the handling of it could have been better as well.Ā
I just hope this is handled better in the future, as well as these charactersā development.Ā Ā Ā
