In a large group of letters from clergy, monks, and nuns, Hildegard’s prophetic powers are still more clearly implied. Thus almost one quarter of the letters ask either about the present state of the writer’s soul (often in conjunction with the state of his or her monastery) or its ultimate fate. Sometimes this is expressed in quite general terms, as by the Abbot of Kempten, who asks Hildegard for anything which has been divinely revealed about himself or the state of his monastery, or the Prior of Zwiefalten wishing to repair the failure of discipline in his monastery, who asks Hildegard what has been revealed to her on this subject.
A more personal enquiry, doubtless influenced by his state of health at the time, is to be found in a letter from the ailing Abbot of Haina, who asks about his future prospects. Such knowledge, he asserts, is made possible through him who dwells within her. A member of the cathedral clergy of Mainz is likewise concerned with his personal standing in the eyes of God. He asks Hildegard to write him a letter detailing his faults, as shown to her by God, and how best to amend them. The Abbot of Selbod is determined to leave nothing to chance when he asks Hildegard to send him a letter describing his spiritual state and everything that has happened, or will happen to him. Once more, the expectation is that all will be revealed to Hildegard through the Holy Spirit.

There's a difference between feeling good and feeling alive. The two aren't always the same.
