These cute flamingo iced biscuits are ideal for themed parties or a fun baking activity. Pink icing adds a splash of color and flavor to the buttery biscuits.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. Pinch of salt. Pink food coloring.
Instructions: Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl until the mixture is smooth. Together with a few drops of pink food coloring, add the egg. Combine well. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a different bowl. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a dough forms. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for one to two hours. Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the biscuits out with cookie cutters in the shape of flamingos and put them on the baking sheet. For 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. On a wire rack, let the biscuits cool all the way down. After adding some water and pink food coloring to the powdered sugar, mix it until it forms a thick, smooth frosting. After the cookies have cooled, use the pink icing to make the flamingo's body and face. Before you serve or store the cake, let the icing set.
