In an interview in 2011 during the "Made in Germany" tour, Flake, with his characteristic candor, spoke about people who hunt for autographs just to sell them for a profit.
Flake: They only get them to sell them online to real fans who can't get an autograph.
Interviewer: Seriously? Have you seen any deals?
Flake: Yes, a friend showed me a website where they were offering a signed copy of the Mutter album for five times the usual price of the CD.
Interviewer: Why wouldn't you be proud of something like that?
Flake: They're just letters written in ink. They're emotionally valuable to the fan, but I don't think they're worth much in monetary terms.
Interviewer: Would you buy an item autographed by one of your idols?
Flake: No, if I weren't there in person to get an autograph, or if it wasn't dedicated to me, I don't see the point.
Interviewer: Do you think it's ethical to do that?
Flake: No way, I'm sick of what they're doing; they're taking advantage of real fans.
Interviewer: Why do you think some fans are willing to pay for your autograph from a retailer?
Flake: I don't know. Everyone has different motives, but I don't see the point. It's like someone taking a picture of a girl you like with an "I love you" sign and selling it to you. Why would you want it? The offer isn't directed at you, that "I love you" isn't for you, it's meaningless, it's in your control, and it's ridiculous that you'd pay for it.
Interviewer: What advice would you give to your fans who buy merchandise with your autograph from resellers?
Flake: Don't do that, an autograph doesn't make you more of a fan if you get one, and personally, if you never get one, no problem. All of our fans are important, but I admire a fan who cares about enjoying our music more than one who cares about an autograph.

Till was not impressed with Flakes new survival skills
For the third time, my Rammstein concert has been delayed/cancelled. God willing this time next year I'll be in the Feuer Zone, but until then I can make more fan art.
