What is the social media activity being analysed?
This week I looked at a video posted to the AFL’s official Instagram about the ‘flagmantle’ theme that may Fremantle supporters are getting onboard with as they return to finals football this September.
Who is leading the campaign and who is involved?
The AFL and Josh Garlepp are leading the campaign in a funny video that’s edited up to make fun of Fremantles pursuit of their first premiership.
What are the major tools being used?
The major tools being used are video, still images edited into the video along with video edited software to cut up the montage.
Where they saw it and if/how they engaged with it?
I saw the video on the AFL’s official Instagram page and found the video humorous and shared it to a few friends.
Critical reflection. Link to the subject topics & what did I think of the social media activity?
In class we looked at social media marketing strategies and campaigns, the brand and organisational goals. In this post the organisation of the AFL are trying to build anticipation and excitement around the upcoming finals so this was a small storyline in the big picture that allowed people to engage in a funny way. The Fremantle Football Club would obviously love to win a premiership and that’s where the term Flagmantle had originated from its supporters in hope. I think it was a clever well put together video that had positive engagement.
