So! Giancarlo’s relationship to the girls is of the old school. An Italian stereotype of handsome rich men and the beautiful, temperamental women that adorn their arms. It’s an outdated, misogynistic and shallow form of romance that makes both parties look pretty bad. And Bakuten Shoot Beyblade plays it straight, making even its hero of the virtues, Takao, take part in it with his simultanious condemnation of Giancarlo (last post) and lust for the girls (or rather any girls. It’s coming up).
To specify, it’s not the girls themselves that are the problem, but the way in which he relates to them and they to him. @flaggermousse and I chose to make this bad habit of Giancarlo’s a sign of domestic unhappiness, a character flaw that he needs to overcome. I’ll talk more about Nenja’s and my headcanons for Giancarlo and the others in a later post.
Giancarlo’s relationship with Olivier (and Johnny and Ralf) is a healthier one because he cannot use them or they him the way he does with the girls. He has nothing to offer them except himself. The only unfortunate thing is the implication that creates that relationships between men are deeper and truer than between men and women.

Do you have any thoughts on why Brynden Tully never got married to anyone?
Possibly asexual; possibly gay; possibly in love with someone who died or married another and thus avoided love/marriage afterwards; possibly just didn’t want to be married to anyone, whether his brother’s choice or otherwise. While GRRM has thus far refused to give us more information about the Blackfish’s (lack of) love life, hopefully one day he will, whether it’s plot relevant or not.
what were you favourite books when you were a kid?
I was REALLY into the Animorphs serie, then Stranalandia by Stefano Benni (a book that I’ve destroyed for so many times I’ve read it), C’era due volte il barone Lamberto by Gianni Rodari, Abbaiare stanca by Daniel Pennac, Storia di una gabbianella e del gatto che le insegnò a volare by Luis Sepúlveda and Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Submission: Tiny headcanon from tiny details
Okay, since you’ve started on Hanshin again, it reminded me of this headcanon/theory I’ve had for years:
- When Sorata is telling them what kind of transport they have in Hanshin, he mentions cars, trains, boat etc, and then goes close to Arashi and asks if a baby carriage isn’t also a form of transport. She doesn't answer.
- Then when they say that the Syaoran and the rest of the group can stay at their place, Sorata says they owe Yuuko a favor, holds Arashi’s hand, and she blushes. Nothing else is mentioned on what that favor was.
I just wonder if maybe they had difficulties having kids, and got/will get some help from Yuuko, in exchange for helping Syaoran’s group? Could this be a thing, or am I thinking too much into it?
