idk if this counts as a request but do you have any tips on how to create a flag?
Thanks for asking! We appreciate any kind asks like these. it doesn't have to be a request, anything is welcome. Also, it doesn't even have to be a question, just conversation is also very welcome!
Honestly, it's very much vibes but I'll try my best to write some stuff down.
We always try to make flags that aren't basic. We try to avoid using horizontal lines and if we do, we make them different widths.
Always use related colours, make it fun and playful. If you can't find related colours, try to use ones that feel right for you. It doesn't have to be bright and eye straining but it should be colorful.
You can make your own symbols or use a copyright free one you can find online but know it isn't needed to use/make symbols at all.
Just have fun! Go wild! Try things and don't be afraid to fail. Sometimes, we have to try 6 or 7 times before we get a flag we're happy enough with to post it.
Thanks for asking! Hope this helps! Feel free to ask more questions! We love writing tips and advice!

Anyways thoughts on the thing I coined? I have the post linked in my intro post

Genuine advice: Don't make your flag's colors too bright, these tend to be eyestraining and hurt people's eyes.
Personal advice: Flags that are formatted like the aroace flag tend to have colors formatted like this, from top to bottom: dark color, lighter color, neutral color, lighter color, dark color. You don't have to do this, of course, but it makes the flag look nicer.
Its a great concept overall, I just think the flag needs to be a less oversaturated.
How do you make such good pride flags what is your technique
ahhhh i'm very happy you think my flags are good, and honestly i use a few different techniques. first of all, this is the site i use. i love it.

i'm putting this under the cut because i kind of ranted a lot (not in a bad way at all) cuz flagmaking is a mega hyperfixation of mine, so sry about that afadfs
1. Different Formats: I think of different ways I can organize flags so that I can utilize similar color schemes regularly without making identical flags.
Some formats I use are having the color scheme start darkest on the top and bottom of the flag, and then having it progress lighter towards the middle, and then I take that same color scheme and reverse the progression so that it progresses lighter towards the top and bottom of the flag. Here's an example of this- these two flags use the exact same colors, but are nowhere near identical.
[Image ID: A flag with nine equally-sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colors are medium purple, pink, salmon orange, dull tan, light lavender, mint-grey, turquoise, purple, and medium purple. End ID.]
[Image ID: A flag with nine equally-sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colors are light pink, light orange, salmon red, pink, deep purple, purple, medium turquoise, grey-green, and light pink. End ID.]
Another example of a "format-shift" I use is taking flags I've already made, and combining their color schemes. For example, I may take the bottom half of one flag and make it the top half of a new flag. I may then take a different flag I've already made, and make its top half the bottom half of my new flag, and voila I have a completely new flag that combines/mixes and matches color schemes from flags I've already made. Examples:
[Image IDs: Two flags with the same equally-sized nine horizontal stripe format. The first has the colors red, red-orange, orange, pale yellow, white, light grey, purple-grey, medium purple, and deep indigo. The second has the same light-grey, purple-grey, medium purple, and deep indigo stripes as the first flag, only on the top half, and the bottom half is white, pale yellow, orange, light purple, and indigo. End ID.]
I also change the amount of stripes and pick and choose different colors from existing color schemes to input onto a lower-stripe format so that it utilizes the same basic color scheme but still looks fairly different. Here's an example of this- I color-picked the second flag from the first (though I very slightly edited the colors, but not much at all), but they still look different enough because of the stripe difference-
[Image ID: A flag with nine equally-sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colors are white, yellow, orange, pink, black, medium purple, blue-purple, turquoise, and white. End ID.]
[Image ID: A flag with five equally-sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colors are orange, pink, medium purple, purple-blue, and turquoise. End ID.]
There are so many other ways you can change up flag formats so that you can utilize similar themes over and over and still get diverse flags from it, so it's also really up to how you decide to experiment with flag design :)
2. Color shifts: One thing I do fairly commonly is take a flag I've already made, and apply color shifts, saturations, exposures, as well as different color filters. There are so many different kinds of filters, hue shifts and tints, and light filters you can mess with, and you can create completely different flags out of it :) The following flags all started as the same flag!
[Image IDs: Two flags with the same format of nine equally-sized horizontal stripes. The colors of the flag on the left (from top to bottom) are navy blue, pink-grey, dull orange, dull yellow, light lavender, turquoise-grey, blue-grey, deep blue-grey, and navy blue. The colors of the flag on the right (from top to bottom) are near-black, dull pink, red-orange, dull golden, light pink, grey, purple-grey, medium purple, and near-black. End ID.]
3. Different formats in general! You can vary the size of your stripes, have different-sized stripes, have diagonal stripes, add stripe outlines, and a large number of different things! When it comes down to it, yes there are different techniques for increasing your capacity for flag design, some of which I've outlined here, but it's really about you! As you spend more and more time on flag design, it will get easier to discern potential color schemes as well as templates and designs. My first month of making flags was BAD, I made a lot of really unappealing flags, it really just took honing in on my interpretation of design and color theory and just using my own creativity to get better.
I hope this was helpful, and good luck with flag design!
