There were a lot of gaps in the years they were apart. All sorts of things have happened, and in the midst of all that, who wouldn't end up losing themselves? Maybe it was the same for Xiaoyu herself, but on a much less scale than the man beside her.

This probably was made even worse after the declaration of the war. It was something Xiaoyu never understood, something she could never see Jin doing. Not the one she was used to. Maybe that's what he meant by his words.

"Do you worry about losing yourself? Is it like losing your identity?"

Xiaoyu glanced back at him. She didn't think attempting to tell him how it feels was a good idea, because it was something she didn't fully understand. So instead, she'd rather ask him directly, see how he truly felt. It wasn't often for Jin to be honest and open, so she wanted to encourage that.
