How about a fic in which Keith really wants Hunk to send him cookies but is an idiot about asking for them?
â⌠and so, in light of the new intel gained by our scouting team, it is our suggestion that the timetable for this mission be pushed back. Galra troop movement has been unpredictable as of late, and based on the current coordinates ofâŚâ
Hunk felt his eyelids drooping. He shook his head, trying to jar himself into alertness, and propped his chin on his hands. It wasnât that he disliked sitting in on briefings with the Blade of Marmora; they always had useful information, and Hunk knew Team Voltronâs pursuit of Zarkon would be dead in the water without the help of the Blade.
But Kolivan was boring.
The guy had, like, one setting, and that setting was âserious business,â and Hunk had learnd to tune out most âserious businessâ voices back at the Garrison. And no, âserious businessâ voices didnât mean all people who said things in a serious wayâhe listened to Shiro, after all. But Kolivan made it sound like everything he said was of grave importance, even when he was just reading off a list of coordinates, and Hunk couldnât make himself focus. There were so many things heâd rather be doing, like helping Pidge bypass the security protocols on the newest piece of Galra tech theyâd swiped in their latest raid, or perfecting the space goo cheesecake heâd almost gotten to taste like key lime pie before it burst into flames, orâ
âPsst. Hunk.â
Hunk startled. âHuh? What?â
âShh!â
âI wasnât doing anything!â He glared over his shoulder at Lance, who was leaning up against Hunkâs chair, frowning.
âYou were drooling!â Lance whispered. âAnd muttering to yourself. Allura keeps looking back here like she wants to strangle you, man, at least try and pay attention.â
âI am paying attention!â
âYou were not! You were thinking about that stupid space cheesecake again.â
âHey, my space cheesecake is not stupidââ
âGuys,â Pidge hissed from over the arm of her own chair. âQuiet.â
âAlright, sorry.â Hunk dropped his chin in his hand again and sighed. On screen, Kolivan was still droning on and, to his left, Keith stood straight and somber, unruffled by the lack of attention his fellowâerm, formerâteammates were showing the Blade leader. Hunk smiled at Keith and raised his hand in a little wave, then winced and drew it back to his chest, remembering Kolivan could still see them. But then, either Hunk was imagining things, or the tiniest hint of a smile twitched at the corner of Keithâs mouth.
Hunk missed Keith. They all did. It was another reason Hunk had trouble focusing during Blade briefings: usually, after Kolivan was done strategizing with Shiro and the Alteans, heâd let Keith have the channel for a few ticks so the paladins could say hi. Keith barely ever got a word in edgewise during these conversations, buried under a wash of their own eager chatter, but Hunk could tell he didnât mind, was content to listen to the voices competing to tell him this or that bit of news. He was always patient, and always hesitant to switch off the channel when they were done.
Keith missed them, too. That much was clear to Hunk. He just didnât know what to do about it.
âIf thatâs all the business we have today,â Allura said to Kolivan on screen, âI think a few of the paladins areâŚsomewhat impatient to speak with their former teammate.â
Hunk grimaced. He definitely wasnât imagining the irritated look Allura shot at him.
âVery well,â Kolivan said, stepping out a frame, so that Keith could move front and center.
âHey, guys,â Keith said with a small smile.
âKeith! Hi!â
âHey, man! How have youââ
âKeith! Listen! I have to tell you aboutââ
Keithâs eyes widened, mouth opening and closing, not sure who to respond to first.
Shiro laughed. âAlright, okay, hold on. One at a time.â He stepped forward with his arms crossed over his chest. âHey, Keith. How are you doing?â
âHey, no fair!â Lance whined. âHow come you get to go first?â
âIâm doing okay,â Keith said, ignoring the argument in favor of Shiroâs attention. âIâm being sent on more missions now.â
âThatâs good. That means they trust you.â
âLonger ones, too. So if you guys donât hear from me for a while, donât send a search party.â He shrugged, playing it off as a joke, but Hunk didnât miss the flicker of unease in his eyes. He lookedâŚlonely.
âAs long as youâre being careful,â Shiro said.
âI am,â Keith said. âAs careful as I can be, under the circumstances.â
Hunkâs heart clenched. He needed to cheer up Keith, and he needed to do it now.
He had an idea. He knew one thing that was proven to cheer everyone up.
âIâll be right back!â he yelled, and dashed out of the room. When he returned, he was carrying a ridiculously large platter of space cookies.
âDid you just make these?â Lance asked, immediately grabbing a handful of cookies and shoving one of them into his mouth.
âNo, of course not,â Hunk said, passing the platter around. âI was saving them for after dinner, but I wanted to show Keith. Look!â He held up one of the cookies for Keith to see. âNo powering a teleduv with these babies!â
Keith laughed, but it was strained, and the longing in his eyes only grew worse. âThatâs awesome, Hunk. Tell me about them?â
Hunk frowned. Telling Keith about the cookies was only going to make him want one, and he was supposed to be making Keith happier, not feel more isolated. He shook his head. âNuh uh, no way, a chef never reveals his secrets. Youâre just going to have to come get one.â
âOh.â Keith glanced down and rubbed at the back of his neck. âI donât think thatâs possible right now.â
âI mean, not right this minute. But soon, right?â
âKolivan is set to visit the castle in a few quintents, but Iâll be on a mission.â Keithâs shoulders slumped, and Hunk almost felt like crying. âIâm sorry, you guys. I justâŚI want to visit, but IâŚI canât right now. I know you donât understand, butââ
âWe do understand, Keith,â Shiro spoke up, smiling gently at the screen. âYou do what you need to do. We just miss you, thatâs all.â
âYeah,â Keith said. âI miss you too.â
After another few moments, Kolivan called for Keith, so they said their goodbyes and switched off the screen. âWell, quiznak,â Hunk muttered. âThat was awful.â
âWhat are you talking about?â Lance said through a mouthful of cookie. âThese are delicious.â
âIâm not talking about the cookies, Lance, Iâm talking about Keith. Didnât you see him? Heâs miserable!â
âHe did seem a little off,â Pidge said. âI know how badly he wanted to join the Blade, but theyâre really not going easy on him, are they?â
âGuys,â Shiro called from the doorway. âYou coming to the training deck?â
âWeâll be there in a minute, Shiro!â Hunk called back, and waited until Shiro was out the door before bringing Lance and Pidge closer. âOkay, huddle up, gang. We have to get that boy some cookies, stat. Operation Emergency Cookie Delivery is a go.â
Lance rolled his eyes. âAnd how, exactly, are we going to get cookies into the Blade of Marmoraâs heavily fortified headquarters?â
âYou heard Keith, Kolivan will be visiting the castle soon. We can justâŚâ
âWhat, walk up to the totally humorless purple alien and say, âHey, can you please give these cookies to our friend?â Heâs not gonna do it, and I donât know about you guys, but I donât want a lecture on how thereâs no time for shenanigans from that dude. Iâve gotten enough of those from Allura.â Lance shifted. âAnd Shiro, lately,â he said, quieter.
âWait a minute,â Pidge said, her eyes lighting up. âWe donât have to give them to Kolivan. We just have to make sure they get back with Kolivan.â
âHuh?â
âWe can sneak them onto his ship!â
Hunk beamed. âOh, yes, we can sneak around like secret agents, and wear disguises, and have walkie talkies, andââ
âHold on,â Lance said. âWe could get in big trouble for this.â
âSince when have you cared about getting into trouble?â
âI donât! But honestly, weâre going to do all this just to get cookies to Keith?â
âUnless you have something better to do,â Pidge said. âYou could go train with Shiro. Iâm sure you can find something else for him to yell at you about.â
Lance scowled, and Hunk knew Pidge had gotten under his skin. âFine. Iâm in.â
âAlright!â Hunk clapped Lance on the back. âSo whatâs the plan?â
*
The Plan, unfortunately, did not include walkie talkies or disguises, which Hunk thought was a huge bummer. It did, however, include a working map of the castle Pidge devised to show everyoneâs location at any given moment. Hunk hurried down an empty hallway with the package full of cookies under his arm and watched the little yellow blip on the screen mirror his location. âAre you sure everyoneâs where this thing says they are?â
âPositive,â Pidge replied over the comm in his ear. âAllura and Coranâpink and white on your screenâare on the maintenance level, and Shiro and Kolivanâblack and purpleâare in the Black Lionâs hangar. Youâre home free.â
âI thought Iâd have a much cooler job than this,â Lance chimes in from his post in the security room. âLike maybe âthe bodyguardâ or âthe muscleâ. Watching empty rooms is boring.â
âYouâre not supposed to be watching the empty rooms, Lance, youâre supposed to be watching the ones with people in them.â
âWell, those are boring, too! All anyone is doing is talking.â
âShut up, you guys, Iâm trying to focus,â Hunk said, following the map the last few steps to the hangar where Kolivanâs ship was supposedly parked. âOkay. Iâm here. Now how do I get in?â
âOkay, so the hangar is locked to everyone but those with the access code, which only Allura and Coran and the owner of the ship have for security reasons,â Pidge said. âHowever, I was able to devise an algorithm to cycle through all the possible combinations with regards to frequency of use andââ
âIf I have to listen to you tech-babble, Iâm turning my comm off,â Lance said.
âUgh, fine. Hold the device on your wrist up to the access pad. Itâll display the code, and if itâs correct, you should just be able to walk in.â
âHere goes nothing.â Hunk did as he was told, and the hangar door slid opened with a hiss. âNice, Pidge! Iâm in.â
âGreat! Do you see Kolivanâs ship?â
âYep, Iâm there.â Hunk ran his hand over the side of the ship. âNow if I could just figure out how to get the doorââ Suddenly, the blips on the map in Hunkâs hand started moving, and moving fast. âHey, Lance, what do you see in those cameras, buddy?â
âHold on a second, Iâmââ Lance inhaled sharply. âUh oh.â
âWhat do you mean, âuh ohâ?â
âI donât, uh, see anyone. Theyâre all gone.â
âOh, sweet quiznak,â Hunk said, the blips on the map starting to descend on his yellow dot. Â
âAbort, abort, drop the cookies and get out of there!â Pidge yelled.
âUh, okay, Iâll just, uhâŚâ Hunk spun around in place, panicking. âHow did this happen, how do they even know Iâm in here?â
âYou mustâve tripped some kind of alarm, a motion sensor or something Kolivan programmed into the ship.â
âBoy, those Galra think of everything, donât they,â Hunk muttered.
âHunk!â
âOkay, okay, but I canât just leave these here. Theyâll never get to Keith!â
âForget about Keith!â Lance said. âUnless you want to deal with an angry Galra, you better get out of there!â
âOkay, fine, Iâmââ
âYellow Paladin!â
Hunk froze at the menacing growl, and turned slowly towards the door, swallowing hard as he faced the aforementioned angry Galra.
âWhat are you doing with my ship?â Kolivan snarled.
âNothing!â Hunk squeaked. âNothing, I promise, I was only trying toââ
âWhat is that package in your hand?â
âOh god. Okay, I know what this looks like. This looks like a bomb, doesnât it? Oh god it looks like a bomb. I shouldâve just put them in a paper bag, nobody ever put a bomb in a paper bagââ
âA bomb?â Kolivan stepped closer and yanked Hunk forward by the arm, claws digging into Hunkâs shoulder. âAre you trying to sabotage my ship?â
âNo, no, no! I said itâs not a bomb! Oh quiznak this is bad. Iâm gonna be sick. Iâm gonna throw up.â
âHunk!â Allura sprinted into the hangar, Shiro trailing close behind, her eyes wide and her mouth agape. âWhat is the meaning of this?â
âOh god,â Hunk said, âIâm so sorry.â
âEveryone just calm down,â Shiro said, moving between Hunk and Kolivan and placing a firm hand on Kolivanâs chest, forcing him to let go of Hunk and take a step back, for which Hunk was eternally grateful. âIâm sure thereâs an explanation for all of this. Hunk?â
âUm. Yes. There is aâŚa perfectly good explanation.â Hunk took the package and unwrapped it, revealing the box of cookies inside. âSee?â
Kolivan looked into the package and frowned. âAre these some sort of miniature tracking devices?â
âTracking deâŚwhat? No! No, theyâre cookies.â
âCookies?â
âCookies?â Shiro asked
âIâm afraid I donâtâŚunderstand,â Allura said.
All three of them looked to Hunk, who bowed his head and sighed.
âOkay, so, I made cookies, right?â he said. âAnd Keith, he saw them the other day, and he looked so sad! So I wanted to, you know, give him some cookies. So he would beâŚless sad.â
Shiro cocked his head. âSo you were going to sneak them onto Kolivanâs ship?â
âIn my defense, we were really, really bored, and it seemed like a good idea at the time.â
Allura raised an eyebrow. âWe?â
âOh yeah, Pidge and Lance were totally in on this.â
âHunk!â Pidge yelled in his ear, at the same time Lance gasped, âHey!â
âYep, totally in on it, 100% not just my idea, whatever trouble Iâm in they should be in, too.â
âSellout,â Pidge muttered.
âYouâre toast, big man,â Lance fumed.
Kolivan was still staring down at the plate of cookies, his brow furrowed. âSo this is a gift of food for your former Red Paladin?â
âUh, yeah, I guess,â Hunk said.
Kolivan nodded and took the package from Hunkâs hands. âThen I will deliver it to him.â
âReally?â Hunk grinned.
âIt is a practical gift. He is little, and hungers often. He needs nourishment.â
âOh, Iâm definitely saving that one,â Lance snickered.
âIâm not sure if you heard that clearly,â Hunk said into the comm. âAll I had to do was ask him to take the cookies to Keith, which I remember someone sayingââ
âWhat? I canât hear you!â Lance said. âThe commâs going dead! Hunk? Hunk? Are you still there?â
âCoward,â Pidge said as the line went quiet.
*
Later the next night, Hunk was lying on his back in his bunk, drifting off to sleep, when his communication devise buzzed. He groaned and rolled over, smacking around for it and squinting at the screen in the dark.
Control room. âK
Hunk shuffled out of bed, into his lion slippers and down the hallway to the main control room, where a light was blinking on his personal bridge display. He sat down and pushed the button with a yawn, and Keithâs face appeared on his screen. He looked tired, worn down, wearing just a thin t-shirt instead of his Blade armor, but he was all in one piece. Hunk supposed that was all they could ask for, at this point. âHey, buddy,â he said with a sleepy smile.
âHey,â Keith said, glancing over his shoulder. âI canât talk long.â
âDid you get the cookies?â
Keithâs cheeks tinted red, and he scowled. âYes, Hunk, I got the cookies.â
âSweet.â
âDid you justâŚwalk up to Kolivan and hand him these?â Keith sounded a little awestruck, and more than a little embarrassed.
âWell, no, not exactly,â Hunk said. âFirst we tried to sneak them onto his ship, but then we got caught, and I think he thought it was a bomb, so everyone freaked out for a minuteâŚâ
âHunk!â
âBut they turned out okay?â
Keith nodded, then reached for something off screen. When he sat back up, he had a cookie in his hand. âLast one.â
Hunk blinked. âYou ate them all already?â
Keithâs face went even redder. âYeah, well, it was a long mission. I was hungry.â
âJust like Kolivan said,â Hunk said under his breath.
âWhat?â
âWhat?â
âNevermind, IâŚâ Keith rubbed at his eyes, and Hunk could tell he was fading fast. âI just wanted to share the last one. With you. I know that sounds corny or whatever but I justâŚwanted to.â
All of the sudden, Hunk felt his eyes start filling with tears. âYeah, Keith,â he said, his voice going thin as he sniffled. âI get it.â
âDonât you dare!â Keith said, and his laugh was a little wet, like he was about to cry, too. âIf you start, then Iâll start.â
âAlright, alright, Iâm cool,â Hunk said, wiping a hand over his eyes. âIâm just glad you liked them.â
âThey donât taste like glass at all,â Keith said, deadly serious, and Hunk threw his head back with laughter. âWhat?â
âNothing, man. I just miss you.â
âYeah,â Keith said. âI miss you, too.â
But the lost, lonely look in his eyes was a little dimmer, and Hunk felt the vice around his chest loosen an inch or two. Sometimes it felt like there wasnât much he could do to make his teammatesâ hearts lighter, but when he could, he was so glad to do it. Even if it was something so little, like this. He was starting to realize even the little things were enough.
Keith ate his last cookie, and they said their goodnights, and on the way back to his bunk, Hunk decided he might give the space goo cheesecake recipe just one last try.

Even as much as heâd traveled -- so much further than so many Hobbits -- Pippin had never quite developed a sense for distance. If asked, he could never have quantified the distance between one planet and another, or displayed more than a rudimentary understanding of a lightyear. He wasnât sure just how far he was from home, or how long it would take him to get back, and he didnât mind that he didnât know. Distance was just another thing about the galaxy that he allowed to simply wash over him, without much desire for more.
At least, it was until Merry left for Rohan.
Now Pippin thought about distance, specifically the distance separating Minas Tirith from Edoras, with an aching understanding. Three hours for a message to travel from one to the other. Almost as many days for a ship. If Pippin cried out for help, it would be three hours before Merry could answer, and three more before Pippin would see that he had. Quite a lot could go wrong in six hours.
Never before had the universe seemed so big, not in Fangorn or in Rivendell or in school looking at maps and memorizing figures.
H/c prompt: Sirius (can be on either end of this), "You think I'm angry at *you*?"
âYou think Iâm angry at you?â James was leaning against a tree, arms crossed, eyes narrowed down at where Sirius sat, studiously ignoring his best friend by burying his nose in a book. He had made a pronouncementÂ
âI know youâre not reading that,â James added, impatiently unfolding himself and giving Siriusâ leg a nudge with his foot. âWhat is your deal lately?â
Sirius continued to ignore him. Heâd made his pronouncement and now seemed inclined to let James steep in it.Â
âSeems to me,â James said loudly. âYouâre the one mad at me.â
Sirius finally looked up and shot him a dirty look. James grinned back. âThere you are. Come on, whatâs up?â
âIâm not,â Sirius said, voice dignified and cool, âgoing to indulge you just because your girlfriend-,â he sniffed, âis busy and youâve decided Iâm worth your time again.â
âAm not,â Sirius shot back instantly, sounding far more petulant than he would have liked. âI just donât see--,â
âWatch yourself there, mate,â James said, warningly, and then threw himself on the ground next to Sirius. âIf youâd give Lily a chance you two would really get along.â
âAs if sheâd extend that chance to me too,â Sirius said, turning back to the book he was still not reading.Â
James rolled his eyes but elected to ignore the comment. He nudged Sirius again, with his elbow. âNot spending every waking second with you might be a change,â he said, âbut it doesnât mean Iâm mad at you. Itâs just an...adjustment period.â
Sirius leveled him with an injured look, but there was mischief dancing in his eyes and he seemed less sullen than he had earlier. âIâm not jealous,â he repeated.
I'm not seeing any pics of the Other Shiro, is that intentional?
Nah, not intentional. My process is I go through an episode and get as many screencaps as i can, draft them, then queue them out of order for the sake of variety so you canât really know what to expect. For now, I am still getting screencaps for episode 1. Queueing 3 posts a day lets this blog last a very long time, so itâll be a while before I even get to âOther Shiroâ whether its the illusions that Haggar created, Kuron, etc. Which is why I donât mind if folks want to submit other Shiroâs not yet seen here. Feel free to send them in.

THIS ONE IS SURPRISINGLY HARD OH MAN.Because I want...to snuggle them all??? THEY ALL DESERVE SNUGS (Enjolras may or may not APPRECIATE snugs but he DESERVES them). But Iâm gonna snuggle Bucky because that boy was largely without kind hands on him for 70 years. He needs it.Iâm gonna cook for Frodo, because the trek to Mordor really takes it out of a guy and he needs some good, home cooked meals. And Iâm gonna tell bad jokes at 1am to Enjolras because everyone needs a little levity, even when planning the revolution.(this was SO HARD)
