I think about #LeelahAlcorn a lot on #transdayofremembrance . I think about her suicide note, about how she wanted us to “Fix society” and how looking back now it awakened the transfemme in me. I was crying for this beautiful soul that suffered so much from her own parents bigotry and lack of understanding and compassion. And it’s how I feel every #TDOR - all these lights extinguished, all the potential they had, just gone. We remember those we have lost today but I celebrate my trans and gender expansive family I’ve made these last two years since coming out as genderqueer and later transfemme. I ask my cisgender allies please listen. Please open up when we say things aren’t right, especially in the drag scene, especially here in St. Louis. The only way we keep our trans and gender expansive folx safe is by creating safe spaces, by educating everyone, and demanding the basic respect and human dignity we deserve. That’s how we keep trans folx safe and that’s how we honor Leelah’s request to #fixsociety #transisbeautiful #translivesmatter #girlslikeus https://www.instagram.com/p/B5F9AA1DoOV/?igshid=zr08wtenfuso
