“Trust me, you don’t wanna see my day job. It’d freak you out. Or bore you to tears. Either way, I’m pretty sure we’re not at that level of friendship yet.” Just because she knew him in the future, didn’t mean she knew this him yet. Not to mention, she just didn’t make a habit of taking people she liked into the morgue with her. Unless they were in the same profession. 

“Are you always this nosy?” She shot a glance down to the open sketchbook in his lap, she wasn’t angry. She kept them out in her living area cause they were easier to reach. And her more private ones were in her room, well hidden. 

      who is this strange man? if the rumors are to be believed, he simply materialized out of thin air. not that that is unheard of in these times. he could have arrived by transporter, after all. but word has spread quickly, & each tale is taller & taller as they circulate through the enterprise. the strangest one, khan thinks, is the one that is most likely to be the truth. that the man arrived in a blue box on the bridge just before everything began to fall apart. after all, who could come up with such an idea & expect anyone to believe it if it were untrue.

      of course, immediately following the stranger’s arrival, khan had been confined to quarters. initially, he hadn’t protested, as he could use a moment of rest anyway. but he quickly became DISPLEASED with the arrangement. in the hour since the stranger had arrived, khan had heard many stories through the ship’s social frequencies, & his curiosity was piqued.

      so, through a bit of subterfuge, manipulation, & sheer force of WILL, khan was able to slip out of his quarters. he knew all the usual routes that security patrolled, so he was unseen for the most part. that is, until he came across the very stranger everyone was talking about. he seemed to be poking around the paneling of one of the corridor walls, scanning it with a device khan had never seen before. & he was talking to himself.

      the augment observes him silently for a moment, arms crossed over his chest & brow furrowed.  but ultimately, he just HAD to ask,  “ looking for something? ”
