5 and Counting...
Sooo… I have court in the morning. When I went last week I was offered Drug Court or 6 months in jail… But that was with a public defender… I refuse to do either. So, I got a real lawyer. Tomorrow will be his first time representing me. He said that Drug Court is a trap, and that 6 months is a ridiculous sentence. He said that we are not accepting either. I’m happy. Not because my cocequences are lessened(that is a plus though), but because everyone thought that I was getting off easy with getting offered Drug Court because it voids your charges. It only voids your charges if you finish… That’s a BIG IF… The program sets people up to fail… Miss an appointment… Go to jail. Parents have booze in the house… Go to jail. Don’t make mandatory AA/NA meetings… Go to jail. No one is perfect. And yes, people have been successful and completed the program… But I know me, and with that many requirements and/or rules… I’m likely to say “fuck it” and sabotage myself… You see, I wrote the book on self sabotage… Ok, maybe I didn’t write the book, but I’ve mastered it. I see myself doing well and will instantly fuck it up because I’ve done so much wrong in my life I don’t deserve good. Maybe once I maintain sobriety for a substantial amount of time that will change… But who knows… 5 and counting.
