How do you find all your poetry/books to read? I was browsing your goodreads and got so inspired by how many good books you happen to find. Also, what do you find the secret to focusing while you read is? My mind has increasingly begun to wander while I read
People I’m friends with on Goodreads and authors I follow, both what comes up on my timeline from them and going through their goodreads. Lists on Goodreads, not the big general poetry ones since I find there’s a lot of spam but more focused ones. Book lists in online media. Sorting books by date on Amazon/Kobo and seeing what’s forthcoming in poetry. Following authors on Twitter, my saved searches involving my Twitter ‘poetry & journals/presses’ list.

I have had many issues with focus due to my disabling mental health issues. It’s been a learning process for me, a letting go of the idea that not doing well with print and instead preferring ebooks and audiobooks indicates that I’m failing as a reader.
With ebooks I can read a bit, check my email, check social media, then read a bit more. I got used to this routine back when I used to read fanfiction voraciously. With audiobooks I listen as I’m doing other non-engrossing things. I can sometimes mix the two if I stick to my ebook routine and take frequent breaks and switch to something less focus intensive.
Audiobooks have given me back novels, have given me back short story and essay collections. Have made me willing to start reading non-poetry ebooks again.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you audiobooks or ebooks don’t count. I don’t think most people who push for print only when the publisher is polling for interest in ebooks/audiobooks or who make negative comments when these forms are mentioned realize how ableist they’re being but something for anybody reading to keep in mind if they’re that person.
