Banned from the sea for two months, all of 241 trawlers are anchored in Chittagong Fish Harbor, they will remain barred from fishing in the Bay of Bengal till 23rd of July.
So, the thought again occurred to me, again, after visiting the skippers and other sailors in the harbor today, that is, even among all these, changes are possible. Just two years ago, the fishing industry here could not imagine a ban season.
It’s a new experience for deep sea trawlers in Bangladesh; Ban Season. The 65-days annual ban is now on it’s second year.
Interesting part is; the captains and crews of these trawlers are kind of supporting the ban. Last year they had good catch after the ban season, as they say!
