PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOURSELVES! Yesterday I scooped up this coot out of the water who was struggling to get on land. Turns out it had a massive tangle of fishing string around both feet. I had Jason and someone else at the park help me cut the string away. However the coot could not walk. Taking a closer look the coot had the sting on so long it was growing skin around some areas. The wildlife shelter was closed so I took the little guy home for the night planning to take it in the morning. It died in my arms last night. You can see just how much damage some fishing string did to the little guy.
