TFP Shockwave being a dad to a human baby/child: Scenario/headcanons!
Genre/Warnings: Sfw, Familia love, some angst in some parts. Overall comfort. (Oh, uh recent update this bit, but there's some violence mention in some parts. Tumblr hates me. I'm just starting out bruhhh 😭)
Notes/thoughts: SHOCKDAD/DADWAVE. Also I feel like he won't like the baby at first, but just like Reiko from the anime parasite, I feel like his spark will warm up slowly to the baby as time went on. He ain't no Gendo Ikari! 🤬 and fear not, just like Rei Ayanami, he too has feelings/emotions! Hope you guys enjoy, I have been wanting to write this for awhile. 😁
So two things 1. Shockwave never goes out of his lab. 2. Why is there a infant in the base? Well you guys can have many interpretations of how and why, but mostly it's the Vehicons (*cough* *cough* Steve. YES HE'S REAL AND ALIVE IN MY HEAD) maybe finding something and saw an abandoned crib and they decided took it back to the decepticon base.
So crying still continues and the decepticons don't know why. Knockout had the audicity to say ewww, Starscream trying to threaten the little one to shut up, and finally Megatron also telling it to shut up and just hating the noises it creates, but doesn't know wtf to do with it. Breakdown went awww and gently holds- while at the same time, rocking the baby to calm it down, while Steve is like "awww don't cry little mini human" and tries to make the baby laugh. Soundwave on the other hand was just observing the whole situation that's occuring and had the possible answer by searching through the web about human babies, as the decepticon searched deep, he found possible answers to it's cries. It's hungry.
So Steve was ordered to bring milk formula, since possibly the baby is around 6 months old. So while Steve buys milk from the store (he'll come back.) The cons just stare at it and try to shush the little one at the same time. Shockwave is getting annoyed by the noise, so he went to check, and there it was the baby.
The baby slowly stops crying and saw Shockwave, curiousity, Breakdown was like what do you want lil bot? It was reaching for Shockwave. Bro Breakdown is hesitant, but the way the little one reaches out to Shockwave. Shockwave is curious, but hides it and step back. But Megatron and the other cons saw and he's like "it seems the little fleshbag knows to shuts up when Shockwave arrives. Shockwave, the fleshbag is your responsibility now..." Megatron just decided to give the responsibility to Shockwave, since the baby just stops crying and is now.... Happy?
Breakdown hesitantly gave the baby to Shockwave and muttered a sorry to the little one. Shockwave doesn't know what to do now, and the little one is now knawing on his face. It's hungry.
Anyways. Many days went by and honestly, the baby disrupts his work. Luckily Breakdown and Steve are there, but the problem is the baby kept crying everytime they try to stray too far from Shockwave.
He tried many ways to stray from the baby to do his work in peace, like give it to Breakdown or Steve to babysit, but alas. The baby just prefers him than anyone else at the nemesis. Also, he is acting different. He feels empty when the baby ain't around. He is glad he found peace, but it feels.... Lonely and cold.
He's basically experiencing 5 stages of grief and another emotion he can't explain, but it lingers, like he thinks of many possibilities of what will happened to the little one, if it ain't close to his proximity.
It's odd to him that he developed a tight schedule for the the little one as well, like wake up from recharging, check the baby, feed the baby, do a healthy check up for the baby (Like twice a week he'll go to the med bay) and other stuff like bathing it, changing diapers and the little one having many onsies and ordering vehicons to buy milk and other human foods babies can eat.
It's also odd that no experiment was conducted on the baby, like at first it, he might have the idea but he refused, something in his spark told him not to, and even if he tried, once the baby laughs or is just touching his optic, he just stops the experiment and just felt so guilty. He tried to isolate, but he can't. The little one was always looking for him. He can't refuse it's cries of need and love, since the baby already thinks of him as a parent that loved them, that raised them, that took care of them. And so it begins...
Shockwave has developed a habit of putting the baby somewhere safe when he's working with his experiments. Not too high for the baby to fall on and not too low for the baby to accidentally get stepped on. Just right.
Also I feel like the Nemesis is cold, so he basically warm up his lab, a heater for the baby, and might have ordered toys, it's mostly blocks, tower of hanoi, rubik cube and puzzles.
Shockwave always believes that logic is the answer, but dear primus, he panicked when the baby was crying and the baby's temperature was not normal. What happened?! Why is the baby's temperature so hot. His logic is not working, it was mostly his emotions in control at this moment, it's like they just took over.
Knockout almost had a spark attack when he saw Shockwave busts in the med bay with the baby in his arms. So basically Shockwave doesn't know what's happening right now, everything is so blur, he's focus on the child. His logic is battling with these strange emotions, he calms down, he acts the same but Knockout noticed, but didn't say anything. But yes, ice cubes, water and a towel.
Knockout showed him cold compression: "First you need a towel, soak it- No, what are you doing?! Not the little fleshy-! Knockout immediately grabbed the baby from him, did Shockwave just tried to put the fleshy in the- That's illogical for him to do that. Knockout thought. Shockwave spoke "But based on-" "No. I'm the medic here. You listen, this is how humans take care of their human babies..." He begins to explain, gently putting the baby on the operating table, he instructed Shockwave to support it's head, since the lack of pillows. "First put the towel in the ice cold water, after that, wring the towel, and put the towel on their forehead, and just repeat the process when you feel that the towel is slightly getting warmer, and remember, not too cold for the little fleshy." Shockwave was just silent, but listened intensively. As the baby yawns and curls to his arms to sleep, he immediately ask Knockout if there are more ways to cure fevers and other diseases that can affect babies.
Gotta thank Knockout for showing him what to do and what human medicine to take. Honestly Knockout is baffled that Shockwave. The emotionless, logical scientists of the decepticons said thank you, like THANK YOU?! Wow. Seems like the little one is changing him.
Back to the main topic, Shockwave immediately ordered Steve and Breakdown to get him those medicines, and trust me it was a ton of medicine and Shockwave label them all one by one. He also baby proof his lab. Once Again.
As months go by, he basically got attached to the baby, he even gave it a name that he wants the cons to recognize, and for the first time in a millenia, he called them his child.
He became so attached and protective, he acts like a father and acts as if the baby is his sparkling. As the baby grows up, his behavior changed, though he still the same Shockwave they know, but around the small human, he's completely different.
He won't let anyone, not even Megatron get close to the little one anymore, with the exception of Steve, Knockout and Breakdown, but interactions are limited. Not even Predaking can interact with the baby freely, like the predacon just sniff the baby and before the child can initiate to play with the predacon, Shockwave carried the child away : (
Tbh he doesn't know what to do once Megatron found out his new weakness, but he will go berserk if something will happen bad to the little human. It happened to Starscream once. But that's a story for another day, right now, it's just him and his little one. His child.
He's going to be that over protective parent.
Despite his "lack" of emotions, he tries his best to express his love and care for them.
The typical parent that will teach them anything, he wants them to not only be smarter than the average humans, but to also have the knowledge he has. To be like him. But fear not, he won't strip them down of their emotions. No. Afterall, love is the thing that made him act like this. A parent... A father.
Shockwave will never forget important events. Like a school event his kid wants him to go? He'll be there, in holo-form of course. Their birthday? Despite Shockwave being busy, he'll do anything to make his kid feel special and have a very special happy birthday.
He is awkward around other parents tho. In his mind he is google searching on: 'how to be human/how to blend in with the humans/how to blend in to human society'. Like if there are events and the kid has friends. Of course the kid gotta convince him to act normal and don't act weird or just anything to embarrass them, or scare his friends. He'll meet the parents, but he gotta make good first impressions. He tries. And somehow the parents are fine with him.
It's possible that Shockwave can be a germaphobe now, due to his experiences with them as a baby. He will always remind them to take a shower, brush their teeth and hygenic stuff. Also reminds them to take their meds/vitamins from time to time, which is annoying but it helps.
If the kid wants a pet, Predaking is the pet. No questions ask.
Try to argue with him, I dare you. Goodluck outsmarting your ol' dad Shockwave, he will never budge and will think that what he's doing is logical, but if the kid ever manage to win in the argument, he goes silent and goes back to work.
Expressing words is hard. Also accepting the fact that not all parent is right and logical is also hard for him, so he apologizes to his kid by his actions. Taking them to the movies, or McDonald's? Taking them to toy kingdom or whatever the kid wants? That's his form of apology. But he'll still say he's logical in the argument tho. He can't let it gooo 😭
So we know temper tantrums. We have been there, but when it comes to Shockwave? He is just going to express huge disappointment in their actions. No yelling. No scolding. No punishments. Just the look of utter dissapointment.
But don't worry, once that happens, the kid will know that they are wrong and will say sorry, and Shockwave will accept their apology and gave them a head pat.
Shockwave will act berserk if something happened to the child, but if it was on accident he'll blame himself for not being there. If he ever goes berserk he'll calm down by the sound of their voice.
Do you guys know Eva 01? Or how it will rampage? He's going to be like that. Despite being injured by a threat, decepticon or a autobot.... Once the child got harm or in a critical condition, he'll lose his mind. Minus the eating part... He'll just destroy the threat til it's dead, or if it's alive, he'll experiment on them.
Listen you guys can disagree, but I feel like Shockwave yearns violence, and raising this kid for so long just makes him a mother bear. Just like Reiko, I feel like he'll just kill without hesitation. Without mercy or an excuse. The thing I mention about Starscream? Basically the seeker accidentally hurt the child and when that specific ramapage happened, Starscream had some severe injuries, but Shockwave didn't know what it was, and it was stopped. Thankfully.
He'll feel guilty, so guilty if something bad ever happened to them. He'll just shut down. But if they are alright? He'll be there, helping them with the recovery. But still, that guilty feeling keeps seeping in to his spark. Also if it ever comes to a point that Megatron wants the kid gone? Over his cold, emotionless husk, he is never going to give the kid up. Shockwave is going to take him down and is going to take over as the decepticon leader if push to that point. Honestly, Shockwave did or tried to take over but became less interested and did stop being power hungry. Why not now, if it's about his child safety.
He doesn't trusts human modern medicine. He wanna do things his way, but news flash, he has those old human medicines that help his child recover from a fever as a baby. Also all the knowledge he knows about human health are from Knockout, so thank him, bless his spark for existing.
It's possible that he's making something to make them live for too long. Though he is not going to show them yet. When the time comes, he'll show them.
He made them a mech at the kid's bday, for self defense, and for experiment usage. Also it's because he secretly wants his kid to think he's cool... Secretly.
Also movies, tv shows and anime with sci-fi genre is the go, if there's a family movie night. Neon Genesis Evangelion might be his personal fav, if he ever watches it with them, or if the kid is allowed to (yeah no. But maybe if older enough to handle it, since it is dark stuff afterall) since it's science and it is interesting, he's going to learn things about humans. Hopefully he doesn't recreate a certain event.... Anyways! Moving on-
A strict dad, like bro will want to know why you got B+ or an 80 than a 90-100. Tho, it's fine. He'll always help you. There's many ways to improve. But remember, he's gonna ban/restrict you for playing video games and watching anime, if there are important stuff, like homework needed to be submitted or a test. He doesn't want them to be a procrastinator (just like me :'>)
He wants the best future for them, and if the kid wants to help him with his experiment, then it's fine. But of course, adult supervision. He's gonna handle the more dangerous stuff.
Overall, he's going to be emotionally and literally distant without noticing, since he is busy with his work, but he tries to get close and get in touch with them. Despite all flaws, he loves them and will go in lenghts for them. They are like a miracle he didn't needed at first, but really did needed in the end. And who knows, maybe he'll just abandoned his decepticon cause for his child's future? Who knows. Hopefully.
Closing thoughts? This was long. Also my first post hi! Hopefully you guys enjoy it, feel free to criticize me, I don't mind! I need it. Also sorry for niche references to Neon Genesis Evangelion and Parasite. I just love those shows so much and tbh... Looking/watching Shockwave in the show just reminds me of Rei if he ever found someone to love, either romantic/platonic/familia. And also, his vibes is like Reiko from Parasite if Reiko didn't die.
