Full armour photos soon but here's a pic from the reenactment event this weekend at Fishbourne Palace! This site was the first Roman excavation I ever visited when I was 4 or 5 years old! I wanted to be an archaeologist at that point but I remember being told how shallow the excavations were and it just cemented in me my desire to dig and find things! I also remember wanting to buy a Roman bulla in the gift shop because I was fascinated by the idea of them warding off evil and all the boys in my class told me I couldn't have one because I wasn't a boy. It's funny that two decades later I'm ana archaeologist with a speciality in the Romans, a girl who reenacts a Roman (male) soldier, and still kept my weird interest in Ancient religious practices- go figure!
