First Time Experience: Getting a Job.

As you know (or well, I assume you know), I've been ravaging CareerBuilder looking for a job, trying to get my foot through the door. I've tried so many times at Macy's but all without much success. I think they've started to ignore my applications, actually. I've sent out so many to them, each with a custom written Cover Letter. Either way, I did land a job finally from Red Lobster nearby where I live. This time though, I was going to do things slightly differently. This time, I decided to wear my blazer too-- along with the rest of my business formal get up. In the past, I felt like "Eh, it's just a job, I don't want to overdress and somehow make my interviewer feel uncomfortable." Of course, that's the kind of thinking that probably was quite the opposite.
I had an interview originally for the Production Line but I had also submitted one later on for Host/Seater. The original interview was for the production line but the manager sensed I wanted the Host position more so and also felt I'd do better there than being in the back. Unfortunately, she was not the one who handled the actual interview for Host/Waiter/Bartender so I had to wait till 3:00. It was definitely worth the wait, however. In that time, I also met with the store manager (yikes!) and got interviewed by him for the job. I was sweating bullets, mostly because I could tell he was the no-nonsense, straight-forward, strict manager who could smell a liar from a distance. Still, I went in with assertively, having to deal with an Executive Director as an interviewer, my heart told me, "Eh, getting interviewed by this person can't be so bad. Just be yourself and answer the questions as best as you can." Thank God for experience, whew!
The interview went well enough though it had some funny and exhaustive parts. It went a lot longer than what I thought it would, initially but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
All and all, I seemed to have impress all three managers working there and will be hired as a Host. I'm happy to start work, no matter where it is. I start Monday. I can't wait! I'm so excited! *Rolls around on the floor.*
