She wasn’t back in Dead Bird Studios, was she?
It looked like it, at least. Or, to be more accurate... it didn’t, really. If this was a movie set, it was certainly the most believable one she’d been on yet; it looked like a real city, and there wasn’t even any camera crew following her around like DJ Grooves and the Conductor often stuck her with. If this was a movie set, it was far more big-budget than anything she’d seen the birds produce so far.
The resemblance, rather, was the people.
Clothed birds everywhere she looked; not just owls and penguins and crows, either, but many different types... with a prominence of what looked like ducks.
If she wasn’t in the studio itself, maybe she was in another part of the world surrounding it. All those movie-making birds had to live somewhere when they weren’t filming, or riding trains to work, right?
Her strategy, when she didn’t know what the peck else to do, was just to go up and get the attention of the first person she saw; and Hat Kid saw no reason to deviate from that now. A duck in a green hoodie caught her eye first; so, waving a hand to attract his gaze, the child scampered over to him.
As also per usual, she didn’t speak first. People, in Hat Kid’s experience, usually had plenty that they wanted to say to a stranger, and she would most often just keep quiet and let them do just that.
