I (as many others) started to learn modern astrology with a heavy focus on psychology using the placidus house system. It was later on, when I tried to see outside circumstances of the natives life, that I hit a wall. What I saw didn’t make sense anymore. So, on a hunch, I switched one of my friends chart to whole sign. And suddenly, her 9th house sun aspecting her moon (amongst a few other things) told me that her father had immigrated and then met her mother. I didn’t know if that had actually been the case so I called her up and checked with her. And it was correct. It was such a “click!” moment. Using Hellenistic techniques does not work on placidus. It’s like trying to understand French when you’re actually learning Spanish. That doesn’t mean one is more valuable or “better” than the other, it just means that they are different. Especially when you’re starting out, it is so important to do research on the house systems and their backgrounds and figure out what you feel more drawn too.

My point is, that generically learning „What does Mars im Pisces mean“ is neither productive nor effective. Depending on aspects, houses, sect and other factors, Mars in Pisces will manifest differently in each chart. So instead of learning „the end result“, study the basics and boring stuff instead. That way, you actually understand what you’re seeing and can tie everything together beautifully.

Over the next week, I will go into more detail for each of the four Temperaments and what planets and signs they are affiliated with.

Nothing brings me more joy than studying astrology. Looking at birth charts. Understanding what drives the native, what they want most in life, what their past, present and future holds for them. Roughly obviously. I believe that while there are fated events and encounters, we can also consciously work with the planets and energies for the best possible outcome. I believe that astrology was given to us to help us, guide us, understand ourselves and be prepared for what might happen to us (or for us, depending on perspective, respectfully). It’s the key to life and the simulation we live in. It empowers us. I love astrology because it helps understand why certain things happened, happen or will happen. If life is the ocean and we are the boat then astrology is the anchor. For me personally, all roads lead back to it, always.

I love how astrology proves that time is not real. The birth chart is a snapshot of our lives. The events that happen to us, for better or for worse. The energies at play, over and over and over again. They are always the same but manifest in different ways. Planets will always find a way to manifest themselves and will get activated multiple times during our lifetimes. Circumstances may change but the energies don’t. The birth chart is a picture of everything all at once. How beautiful.
