From Sports Illustrated "Swimsuit 2015"
“The idea of this issue, the places we visited, is to capture the beauty of America in every shape, size and dimension,” [SI Swimsuit edition editor MJ] Day says. “That analogy extends to the entire Swimsuit class of 2015, beauty in its fullest range.”
Well, your sobsister, spurred by Curiosity, flipped through the entire issue online because I'd heard that SI was featuring women with real-life physiques. Having done so, I realized the following: "every shape, size and dimension" = lean girls and lean girls with large breasts. I actually had to check online to see which of the women was, in fact, the plus-size model. That would be Robyn Lawley (2nd above), who is a size 12. Reportedly.
The one concession to reality comes from Swimsuits for All, a "size-inclusive" swimwear company that features plus-size model Ashley Graham in a two-page spread (above) near the front of the book.
But Swimsuits for All's ad is paid, not editorial, content. So, yeah, hooray for body type diversity, SI.
P.S. The women are lovely and all, but, really?, an entire magazine of women in swimsuits? And that's it? I mean, that's great if you're in the swimwear industry. But, otherwise, not so much.
