First-time offenders, should they have community service?
Lots of people in their life have broke a minor law, rather a simple cartoon in a staircase or to break into abandoned private territory, but some of these people have been caught in the act, and went to trial, the real question is if they should have a punishment or not.
Well, its known that most of the people who brake a minor law for the first time, are teens, around 15-24 years old, and even if its very wrong or just a mistake, they should have a small punishment like community service. Well since the people who, normally, made their first offence, young, they are more active than a grownup which means that a simple fisical task could just be it.
The community service is a simple task, sometimes hard, but it does help the community, specially if it has to do with the environment, they could the first offenders to help the environment, and not just let them go. Some could say that the simple reason of being in trail is enough scare to get the child straight, but being scared of someone isnt always right, the correct thing is to earn up to your mistakes, to not be afraid to tell when you were wrong, if they’re scard that will make them more careful, but its most probable that they will continue to break minor laws.
If the teenager or young adult does something wrong, the first reaction from his part would have to be regret, still admitting their mistake, almost like turning their self’s in. To do some community service could help them do that, and if so they do, it usually calms the feeling of regret to proud, happy to help in the environment.
In conclusion first time offenders have to do some, even just a little bit, of community service, it will make them a better person, with much more peace than letting them off right away, thinking they tricked police or the law, encouraging them do repeat their mistake.
