#first assistant

My awesome first assistant Josh Tyron is moving to Prague (as in the Czech Republic). I realize this might seem as far away from me as possible, but Josh and his fiance Kathy have an awesome opportunity over there that is just too good to pass up. I'm very happy for them but am selfishly sad to see Josh leave after 2 really good years with me.

So, I'm looking for a new first assistant.

Duties include many; namely being responsible for lighting, managing my gear (Canon, Elinchrom, Alien Bee, Calumet, Pocket Wizards), carrying, setting up and breaking down lights/softboxes on location as well as in the studio. We shoot 80-90% on location, so we're on the move nearly every day. The environment is fun, fast paced and 100% client centered.

This position is contract; most weeks are 25-35 hours, some weeks are in excess of 40 hours. The ideal candidate will have an extremely flexible schedule, be available on short notice and willing to travel. Previous experience assisting a commercial/advertising photographer is preferred. Candidate must have experience lighting with strobes and multiple lighting set-ups. Major bonus points if the candidate also possesses knowledge of HDDSLR cameras/video capture, can operate a 2nd HDDSLR camera and has knowledge of external audio capture as well.

Also the candidate might occasionally enjoy an unhealthy diet, or in the event this is not possible, will not badger the photographer with healthy culinary advice or criticism. Ha.
