Five times kissed for firexcross
he isnât like most men she goes for. assholes, as a rule, actually donâtattract ariadne, but as stupid as it sounds, heâs a little different. from thefirst, he isnât an asshole to her, which would be a dealbreaker. but heâsso nervous when he asks her out, so sure sheâs going to turn him downthat she is impulsive for once and agrees. one date turns into two, twointo three. on the third date he finally kisses her. they both grin like idiotsbecause the brakes are off now, and she tugs him into her flat.
dating is unconventional because neither one of them feel the need to beanything like traditional couples. he teases her, she snarks at him, and theyend up on the couch with records playing most nights, talking about theirlives that came before. she doesnât want it to end. she doesnât want to lethim go. one night she kisses him so fiercely that he asks her with a laughwhatâs wrong, and she canât bring herself to voice her fear that this mightall end up being a waking dream, gone before the dawn.
they get married quietly, because neither one of them are the kind ofperson who wants something big. theyâre both starting new lives, together, corny as it sounds, and she wants their wedding to reflect that. a new town,a new house, quiet vows in a new city hall. theyâre building something fromthe ground up together, and as he kisses her she feels a thrill to her core, because for once, everything was going just as sheâd hoped.
everything was going so wrong. seifer had vanished for a full day into theirparadoxical hallway, sucked into the liquid darkness so completely that shecouldnât see his lantern moments after heâd stepped in. when he stumbledback out he was cursing, pulling away from her touch as he tried to cleanup a bloodied arm, eyes wide with panic. she was back, the sorceress wasback and wanted him back, would take him back no matter what. somethingin ariadne seemed to awaken, her eyes glowing only slightly as she stoodto kiss her husband, perhaps goodbye. the witch wasnât taking him.Â
when she came back, the hallway was just a hallway, and the house seemedto groan with a pained release as the door closed behind her. sheâs exhausted, she doesnât know how much time has passed, but she knows the witch is nowgone, banished to somewhere else, and seifer is safe. she collapses into hisarms, unable to stand up for another second and heâs holding her tightly, hisown pain forgotten as he presses kisses to her temple. she actually managedto laugh a little. âweâre burning this place to the ground.â
