Packing was the worst part of any trip. No matter how many times heâd done it before, which was a fairly substantial number of times, since heâd been living as a touring musician for the past six years, Benji never seemed to pack the right amount of stuff, always seeming to be short on something. And even despite the fact that this time of hitting the road was different from all the others that had come before it, it being the first time in his life that he would be hitting the road not for a gig, but just for the fun of it, the nightmare of packing was just the same as it always was. Even as he finished, and zipped up his stuffed duffle bag, he still wasnât entirely confident that heâd packed right, but it was just going to have to do, because he was already pushing it for meeting up with everyone else.Â
Yet another thing that made this trip different from the others, was the people who would be going. Of course all the guys from the band would be there, along with all of their girlfriends, or in a couple cases, fuck buddies, which wasnât entirely uncommon to their normal trips, but they were also being joined some of their friends, people theyâd met at gigs and parties; including one that, Benji had to admit, he wasnât sure how to feel about her being there. Maxine was beautiful, fun, and, if he was being honest with himself about it, everything that Benji wanted; but she was also the ex of Jacob, the guitar player of Anarchy X, and one of the best friends of Layla, Benjiâs own ex girlfriend. Resisting making a move under normal circumstance was always a struggle, but spending several days on the road together? That was going to make things substantially harder.
As he arrived at the meeting spot, it was to find that everyone else was already there. After enduring some teasing and jeering about his habitual tardiness from the others, Benji threw his bag into the back of one of the cars they were taking, and before long, they were all on the road; with Benji being squished in the backseat between Layla and, who else, but Maxine? Needless to say, when they arrived at the first hotel that they were staying at a few long hours later, Benji was relieved to be out of the backseat. At least, he was, until he was told that the person heâd be sharing a room with for the night was Maxine. As if being so close to her for hours in the car hadnât been challenging enough...
Once they got to the room, Benji glanced around, a sigh escaping him at the unfortunate, but not really surprising, sight of there only being one bed, along with a small sofa. Chuckling lightly, he gave a small shrug of his shoulders as he turned to Max. âIâll flip you for it?â He joked, although as he said it, he was setting his bag down on the sofa to indicate that he was, of course, going to let her have the bed.
