The Shining selfie
Tapping into my inner Jack Torrance with my latest toy in my classroom at the Southwestern University PHINMA (SWU) in Cebú City.
If you are not familiar with the character, Jack Torrance was performed by Jack Nicholson in the 1980 film “The Shining”; which was based on the 1977 novel of the same title by Stephen King.
Holding this fire-axe makes you want to smash something into smithereens. The fire-axe was part of our emergency equipment at the SWU, which I “borrowed” for a fashion shoot with my students. After returning the fire-axe to its rightful place, I had to but my own.
So when the clerk at the local Belmont Hardware Depot was wrapping my new fire-axe, I saw that he too had the sudden urge to chop something down. There must be something primal with damn good weapon. . .
