Into the World of FiOS

Despite all the fame that Verizon is receiving from the their highly acclaimed FiOS service, they weren't the inventors of the technology. Fiber optic technology has been around for over 25 years and consumers like you and me have seen it. For example, newer digital computer monitors and TV screens use fiber optics to transmit the information that you see. Certain types of light bulbs use fiber optic technology for the light beam. Fiber Optic as we know it these days is infused in out favorite services, tv, internet, and home phones. So what is the difference between how some of us are receiving our service signals.
Let's start with the older technologies. Both a telephone line and a coaxial cable line use copper wires to generate an electrical signal that travels to your home. Fiber optic lines are made of fiber glass (instead of copper) and they transmit light signals. This translates into clearer channels on TV, faster internet for your computer, and cheaper more secure phone service. Both telephone companies and cable companies combine fiber optic technology with their existing network (either telephone lines or coaxial cable lines) to provide better quality services. Verizon takes it a step above the rest by actually wiring homes to receive a full fiber optic signal. This difference in fier optic usage is called FTTH and FTTN. FTTH is the full fiber optic connection and stands for Fiber to the Home )also known as fiber to the premises). FTTN represents the partial fiber optic connection and it stands for Fiber to the Node (also known as fiber to the cabinet). Although the venture is costly, Verizon has managed to not pass on the cost to its customers and for the most part they will install fiber optics to your home for free if you are in their service area. If that wasn’t enough, Verizon FiOS bundles that include TV, internet, and phone have some of the lowest prices with the fastest internet speeds and best high definition than any other competitor in the market.
Obviously you can conclude that companies that provide FTTH are the best. That conclusion would be correct making the best choice Verizon FiOS services.
