Racism, Antiblackness specifically.

I’ve been a Star Wars fan fr 25 years - man I cannot believe it’s been that long - and in the OT when everyone assumed that Stormtroopers were all white as default they were all the rage and everyone wanted to know about them. Just like with Boba Fett.

Then we got the PT and Boba and his dad turned out to be brown men and the predecessors to the Stormtroopers were brown as well. Talk about nosedive in popularity. The Clone Troopers only got lips service for content and only for any because they’re were part of a couple of PC games and you couldn’t really make a TV series about The Clone Wars without having the clones in it. But Filoni and his team still treated them in disgusting fashion.

This kinda rubbed off on the Stormtroopers popularity as well, which also nose dived, though not quite as sharply as that of Boba as people could still convince themselves that most Stormtroopers were acceptably white.

Fast forward to the ST. Now the only Stormtrooper we have seen the face of is Black and therefore most assume that they’re Black by default - if BtA is anything to go by they’re not, but most of the audience don’t know that - and therefore both most the audience and LF are disinterested in telling their stories.

Because what possible story could Black people have, except ass servant for white characters. And since the Stormtroopers already serve the very white fascist First Order there’s nothing more to tell in their eyes.
