I really respect your insight & knowledge in areas of witchcraft that I don't have much experience with, and I was wondering if you'd be willing to answer some questions/offer some advice on a situation? If not, no worries. I started practicing witchcraft consciously after I left Christianity, and I deliberately chose not to work with deities, but I feel as if a couple have reached out, and I'd be open to working with them, but I'm not sure how to do that. Can give more info if you're up for it.
Keep in mind - this needs to be your choice. Thereâs too much on tumblr with people thinking theyâve been claimed or suddenly chosen, and thatâs not really healthy. Gods are eternal and rather inclined to give one time to develop. I took a decade before I felt I was in a position to make in true commitment.Â
Start slowly and really for the most part somewhat generally. Read and research. Learn how the deities worked in their culture. Set up a simple shrine and begin with some offerings. Just take your time.Â
If you feel a connection with specific deities, it can be a good idea to find people or advice you trust from others working with that deity. This can be a good way to check that what youâre experiencing rings true for that deity and you arenât just channeling yourself. (As is sometimes said - If your deity likes everything you like and hates everything you hate - are you sure thatâs a deity)
Donât stress about signs. On one hand, not everything can be a sign. On the other, everything we experience is a sign. The problem is getting them out of balance. And tumblr seems to let the gods off easy when it comes to signs. If you need a sign, ask for something utterly unmistakable.Â

So question - How do they determine if you've just, you know, forgotten about that Twitter account that's not under your legal name and not connected to any of your usual emails? or do they just operate in good faith that you've actually told them about all your social media accounts?
I had to sign waivers and shit and give them access to my phone data. Theyâre primarily concerned with the things you are actively using but that might have changed in the last six years.
For us it was so they could read our facebook and livejournals and confirm we were in an ongoing relationship (so checking to see if you made mention of your spouse, going through your photos, seeing how often you are in pictures together), even though we handed over MSN and Skype data spanning well over a decade. They still wanted real time proof of ETD and I being in an active relationship, and one of the things our lawyer told us to do was make sure our relationship status on facebook was updated to âmarriedâ or else it could be treated with suspicion. Itâs fucking wild.

I think Iâll talk about Remy, the lead protag in TVO. Heâs a lepidopterologist which is a fancy way of saying heâs an absolute nerd for moths and butterflies, and he helps to conserve endangered species, which he takes incredibly seriously.Â
(on a related-unrelated sidenote, most vampires and their ilk in TVO have super specific interests that they cultivate and pursue for centuries at a stretch, sometimes their whole lives, with almost boundless enthusiasm. I guess itâs because they live so long but idk, this worldbuilding fact just fell out of the sky in the early note-taking stages and hung around).Â
