Tinkering away in his workshop, Syphon glanced over at the Chaos Emerald on his workbench. He didn’t much like being around these things if he could help it. His powers made Chaos energy feel weird. But, better with him than the likes of Eggman, he supposed. And it was nice to just have a power source other than himself or a few dozen car batteries to mess around with for once.
He didn’t expect his machine to work, though. He didn’t have Tails or Eggman’s talent for invention. He was more of a mechanic. More comparable to Wave than the other two. But he had built the machine that sent Silver back to the past in his world. So, if everything went well, then this one should be able to send him back to his own world. Back far enough to correct one of his mistakes. He wouldn’t have very long, though. And it would only be one chance. This thing would probably be fried after one use. If it didn’t work, then no sense in him trying again and again. But he’d feel bad if he didn’t try at least once.
As he finished up his work, he sighed, sliding it onto the floor of his shop, and powering it up.
A low hum resonated through his workshop, as the Emerald brought his device to life. Above it, a small circle of energy began to form, slowly expanding, until it was large enough to step through. But he could feel it. Something was… off. This wasn’t at all what he’d been trying to do. But it was doing… something? There was a portal in front of him of some kind. And something did seem to be coming through. Or some one?
Either way, probably best to not let it through—
His hand hovered above the switch, glancing into the bright, misty hole in space before him. There was… two things coming? One chasing the other, maybe? Probably nothing he couldn’t handle. And this was a rare opportunity for the immortal. A new experience would probably be quite a few years away if he passed this up. As the beings on the other side grew closer, he had a moment of realization. Only one of those things could be considered “alive”. Whatever the other one was… he decided it’d be better not to meet. Deciding to take no chances, he flipped the switch.
The portal destabilized, wildly fluctuating in size and shape, before bursting in a flash of bright green light, shaking the shop. Good thing he was the only one here. Or… he should be? There was someone else in the shop now. As the light finally faded, he got a clearer look at his new visitor. A rather familiar face, even if something wasn’t… quite right.
“Amy…? Where did you… did I somehow pull you here…?”
