Is anyone excited about the pending release of The Hobbit movie on December 14th?
I am! ....Well with a tad bit of apprehension anyway...
The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy is rated pretty, pretty highly for me and I am simply nervous that this movie and the subsequent installments will under-whelm.
As far as the making of the film goes, the director and production team spared no current technology, or cost for that matter. The Film was shot at 48 frames per minute as opposed to 30 frames a minute, executed by typical or traditional video cameras, and 24 frames for film cameras used during the golden age of cinema.
According to acclaimed director Peter Jackson, the film being shot in this (48FPS) format results in the clearest picture seen on the big screen, just yet. In an interview with the Huff Post's Mike Ryan this is how Jackson describes it: "It has twice as many frames per second. This gives it an incredibly clear picture. Which is part of the problem. Put it this way: the picture is so clear that in one scene I could see Ian McKellen's contact lenses. I won't claim to be a Tolkien expert, but I am pretty sure Acuvue does not exist in Middle Earth."
Ok, so now I am teetering back over to the excitement-end of the spectrum. I will give The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey a largely fair shot. After all the attention to detail and investment given by Jackson and his team, it is the least that I can do....Right?
