Not hard to imagine that October is my favourite month of the year. It kicked off with me doing a multi-screen projection of horror films at a museum, screening (along with my team) 14 horror and sci-fi films at the cinema to record audiences, watching a ton of fun VHS flicks at home, and finally ending by springing an unsuspecting audience (attending a Halloween 3 screening on Halloween nite) a recently digitized Super 8 print of Assault on Precinct 13. During that month I still managed to run a business and do my weekly radio gig. It’s all fun, yes, but I’m exhausted.
You would assume that today, November 1, would have been a slow day, but no: I somehow said yes to sitting on a panel about film regulations, a topic I have many feelings/thoughts on, which resulted in the representatives of our awful provincial government being berated in front of a crowd of film community reps.
My day somehow wound down with a trip to The Beguiling, picking up the collected Mike Mignola Dracula. That’s my sole weekend plan: read that. And sleep. Glorious, overdue sleep.
