OK, good film-related things!
I'm about to go and run our first full cast readthrough and rehearsal for the community film. Exciting and anxiety inducing! On the short film projects I've worked on so far, I've tended to meet the actors for the first time on set and have to be blocking the scene and running lines while the equipment's getting set up. So getting everyone together in advance is like, woah, luxury!
Annnnnnnnnnd just got messaged by someone who was camera op on the film was helping out with this weekend, and she wants me to do post production sound for a short she's directed 🙌🏻
OK this is nice. I've been approached by two different short film projects this week asking if I'll be their editor. I like the thought that I'm starting to build my reputation in the local filmmaking scene ☺️

Been shortlisting actors for the summer film and we have our first callback tomorrow 😱 First time I’ve had such an involved/professional casting process. I’m probably more nervous than the actors tbh
My first film festival screening last night…
Wahh i have had so many happy moments these last few days… spent the weekend ADing a short film, met loads of talented and dynamic people, yesterday was spent going through the shotlist for the community film, making decisions on costuming and hair and makeup, and led a cast rehearsal, got a prep meeting day for another film I’m directing, am doing post production sound for a different production and doing some video editing for a local CIC that gets local young people into backstage roles… Telling stories and making art and helping other people’s ideas come to life… This is absolutely where I thrive 🖤🖤🖤
