I know he’s like a hot rich pro athlete that could land anyone but I’m still screaming at the fact Shane had no fewer than five people hanging off his every word last ep. Rose, Miles, the bartender, Hayden (I’m right) all down bad for a guy that canonically Does Not Know how to hold a baby. Ilya “you’re boring” Rozanov undergoing levels of psychological torment banned by the Geneva conventions for a man that wears a plain white t-shirt to the club. Boy is absolutely dripping with autistic rizz and is too repressed to know it. Me and the bad bitches I pulled by being well-mannered and Canadian.
heated rivalry fans saying they can't believe canadian tv goes hard as if the great city of toronto didn't give us tatiana maslany playing cosima playing allison on orphan black in the year of our lord 2015
initially hayden only befriended shane because he thought he was also a mouse, given his overwhelming Scared Prey Animal aura. turns out he's just gay and neurotic and also has a low-level magical field emanating from him at all times, but by then they'd already bonded and also shane had bought him one of those monthly subscription boxes where they mail you a hand-picked selection of artisanal cheese. so.
completely understand why it didn't make it into the ep but i do think it's absolutely peak characterization that ilya's response to scott hunter changing the entire trajectory of their lives is to crash 'scott hunter night' at a local gay bar and shane's is to send an email

not to mention the sorceress jackie literally has a son called arthur. like the prophecies foretold this. marleau are you listening he’s back
still not self-diagnosing but it really does mean the world to me that throughout the show shane is never forced to fundamentally change. like obviously they both grow so so much over the course of their relationship, but from the beginning ilya is shown as genuinely delighting in the little idiosyncrasies that make shane shane. He grins when shane folds his clothes and he's excited to offer shane ginger ale and he is so gentle and respectful of shane being inexperienced and awkward and earnest. and instead of all of this being painted as an obstacle to overcome, it just serves to endear shane to him more. like. idk. no matter how much i try i'm never going to be charismatic. i'm never going to know the exact right words to say. I'm always going to be stilted and neurotic and a little bit naive and I think so much of life and the way we see autism depicted in media is about learning to smooth those things over to try to make yourself more palatable. and so much of the conflict in their relationship stems from miscommunication, but it's always mutual miscommunication; they both have to learn to speak each other's language and it's never painted as one-sided or a burden or something for shane alone to fix. shane is never less of a person or embarrassing or inconvenient or anything other than someone ilya loves. and the idea that you can not only be loved despite those things, but because of them, wholly, fully, by someone who is by all accounts cool and suave and all the things you've tried and failed to be -- it just feels so incredibly healing. ilya genuinely falls for shane the way he is. why am i crying
ilya has never seen a horse but marleau spent most of history on horseback so every time he brings one up in conversation ilya just thinks it's another made-up marly thing. like unicorns
