@fieldsofmelody​ : [NONSENSE] - find them attempting something ridiculous.

It didn’t take long to find Malon hiding in the barn with the cows. It was her voice that gave her away. Link couldn’t tell if she was singing or speaking, but either way he was drawn over and was not disappointed when he found her, talking to the cows as if they might return the conversation. Quietly as he could, he leaned against the barn door and watched with a smile. 

The early morning sunlight filtered in, catching her hair and setting it ablaze as she went about her morning tasks. The cows were apt listeners, or at least didn’t mind. If he had to guess, they were used to it, even enjoyed it. He was, anyway.

Almost ten, Link found himself trusted more and more by his parents to complete errands and tasks in addition to his daily training. They always spoke as if he was destined for greatness, though of what sort he didn’t know, he simply didn’t want to disappoint them. 

Epona wasn’t prone to wander off like that. She was a descendant of a line of warrior horses and was trained to do whatever her master told her to do. Link met Epona when she was a young foal. Ever since then, the two were inseparable.

But now she suddenly ran off while he was taking a break from travelling. He ran after her, calling at her but she didn’t stop. Link wondered what possibly would have spooked his companion.

“Epona! Epona where are you?!” The young hero called out, clearly worried. He had no idea where he was anymore. He didn’t recognise his surroundings either. “Epona! Come back!” He called out once more, using the horse call as well. But Epona didn’t respond.

Zelda leans onto the wooden fence around Lon Lon Ranch’s grazing field. The horses all around are such beautiful, shockingly large creatures. The blonde heiress can’t help but stare at the galloping beasts. They could certainly be symbols for free spirits, all across the land.

Lon Lon Ranch has been, in some form or another, a staple of Hyrule’s culture for the longest time. It makes Zelda happy that the family of ranchers has been able to keep their trade alive for so long. Not even just alive, but thriving.

Where IS he...?

Link swears, he’s never seen so much LAND. This as most definitely NOT the Great Sea...It was exhausting walking so far on just his two legs; it took him a day or so walking across that entire field from such a small (what’s it called?) lake. 

He made his way into Lon Lon Ranch, in hopes of being told of where he was so maybe he could get some help going home...But from what he could tell it was going to be a lot of time bullshit..again--

The kid had never been on a farm before so his attention was  immediately caught by the sheer amount of cuccos and...real horses--? Wow, he’s only seen them in drawings and photos but never in real life. They’re so huge!

Being distracted, he didn’t seem to notice the woman ahead of him that he clumsily bumped into causing him to stagger back and fall on his behind.

Malon had stumbled her way into Castle Town to finish the deliveries for the day despite battling a terrible illness. Though in her haze she had completely forgotten the order for the small mask shop, something she hadn’t done before.

“Y-ya.. I’m alright.. Just a little tired is all… I’ll be right back with your delivery.” A weak smile as she would turn to leave, though she would fumble as she reached for the door.

The merchant hummed as he watched her. His brows creased and the usual cheery smile disappeared. While he knew nothing about Malon or Lon Lon Ranch, he was at least certain she was never this careless. Anytime he ordered she usually wasn’t this pale. Was it the shop lighting? No, he was sure something wasn’t right. Her fumble caused him to stand quickly, the chair sliding against the stone floor. He was there within seconds. His long stride certain useful for something. A reach to grab her and hold her up, but he thought against it.
