To learn more about FIDM, the FIDM Life, and FIDM Students and Alumni, make sure to check out the FIDM website and follow all of the social media platforms:
Over the past three years, GUESS has been sponsoring a sustainability class at FIDM so that students can learn about sustainability in fashion. The students presented their final sustainable concepts at the GUESS Headquarters and shared what they learned in the class. Keep scrolling to take a look at what each of the students came up with!
Faith Ibrahim, FIDM Business Management Student, created a reflective shirt with details made out of hemp denim. This reflective material allows people to have some peace of mind when walking in the dark.
Annie Smith, FIDM Social Media Student, made an eco-friendly tote that is made out of pineapple leather with a solar panel charger. She created this tote for the on-the-go person, with a large size and portable phone charger, but still gives back to the environment.
Rachelle Shen, FIDM Fashion Design Student, made a cork bag that has a removable pouch which can double as a UV sterilization pouch. This extra feature can sterilize anything one may have with them, such as a reusable straw or utensil.
Marty McKenna, FIDM International Manufacturing & Product Development Student, made a sustainable athleisure piece. Bonus, it also comes with a place to insert a portable phone charger!
Ellie Smith, FIDM Merchandise Product Development Student, made swimwear with a no-waste pattern. She also created swimwear specifically for children that have tracking devices in them for parents in times of emergencies.

FIDM Beauty Marketing & Product Development Grad, Danielle Ramchandani, Launches Skin Care Brand DPR SKN
From a young age, Danielle Ramchandani dreamed of one day having her own business and being able to give back to her community to make a positive difference. Her love of the beauty industry runs deep as it can transform how someone looks, creating a new level of confidence for them. Through her own struggles with her skin, Danielle founded DPR SKIN (Deeper Skin) after realizing that no products in the market were helping her. Keep reading to see how she started her business and how FIDM helped her to do so.
After graduating from FIDM with her Associate of Arts degree in Beauty Marketing & Product Development, Danielle continued on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. During her time at FIDM, she geared all of her projects in her classes towards research and development for her own company. It was through each class that she learned the step-by-step process of creating a product from concept to completion. Once her time at FIDM was done, she continued to research ingredients and formulating to develop her clay mask. Danielle launched DPR SKIN this year with the mission of transforming skin and the body on a deeper level, which in turn gives self-confidence.
DPR SKIN’s signature product is the Clay Mask, the product she made that finally helped her clear up her own skin. She carefully formulated the ingredients to help detoxify, calm, and hydrate the skin. It can be used as an all over face mask or just a spot treatment. The Clay Mask applies on wet but dries in a smooth powdery consistency so that it provides a gentle exfoliation when washed off.
DPR SKIN launched this summer, which means it is just a few months old! Danielle works from home and spends most of her time networking to get the brands name out into the world. Because it is such a new company, Danielle has a part time job during the day, but dedicates the rest of her time to scheduling posts, researching, reaching out to influencers and retailers, processing orders, and creating content. Time management is key! Danielle’s advice is to not be afraid to network.
Make sure to check out DPR SKIN and try out the Clay Mask! If you want to work in the Beauty Industry one day, check out FIDM’s Beauty Marketing & Product Development, as well as the Advanced Study Program in Beauty Industry Management.
