I'm an introject of Ryland Grace and god, can I complain really quick about how annoying it is that 90% of the fandom just ships me with someone? While normally I wouldn't find that irritating, it somehow just feels offensive to me as someone who is aroace and finds both the movie and book portrayals of myself to be coded as very aroace.
Romance and shipping culture is so heavily ingrained into all forms of media that the entire system I belong to has basically sworn it all off. Yes, we're all a flavor of aroace, so of course we have little interest. But it just feels as though lately, shipping is the only means with which people engage with media.
Is that not just sad?
There's also the fact that the current highest trending ship for myself is with someone who is from an entirely separate movie. Just... Why?
No hate to anyone who enjoys Bloodymary, but my goodness. I'm sick of trying to find nice content of me that isn't painted romantically or doesn't have some relation to Bloodymary only to have to scroll through dozens of blocked tags.
There is so much more potential to my source than just shipping material.

Looking for art of a character by themself can be incredibly difficult especially from fandom to fandom where their partnership with another character is deemed more important than the character themselves
I have Blitzwing/Bumblebee ships blocked because I just want to see Blitzwing being a cutie or just being himself but so much of his art exists just to ship him with Bumblebee and while shipping is great and can be so much fun when most of the content about one of your favorite characters is just ship art it's a unique type of frustrating but there isn't really much to be done about it if most peoples just is watching characters kiss
fictive scrolling through this blog and seeing people talk about "banned sources" culture is fuck my source (roblox grace) is probably gonna join that list at this rate with how mega racist the creator has been. there's a whole 11 of us which is the third highest fictive count from one source in this system (highest is jsab at 15, second is ironically homestuck at 12) and a good chunk of us are frequently active (i actually used to be the main host but had to step down due to everything) and i'm fucking scared. i still miss the game so much.
to people from "banned" sources: it's not your fault. you are loved, you deserve love, your source and whatever negativity surrounds it does not define you even if you have attachment to it. spread the love <3

I am in a two person (both fictives) system, where neither of us really "kin" or feel any fictive relationship to any other characters in any other medias. It can be very isolating. Im not elitist about it, i know every system doesnt operate this way and i dont expect them to, but it doesnt change the fact of how painful it can be to be so DEEPLY possessed by just the being of one thing, and find no one else matching that same determination. It SUCKS. I just want to not be alone!
