what is the ambrosian republic union's relationship with all of the tribes in the sirenian territories? is the union going to give them tools so that they can be represented in congress or are we gonna get a repeat with the united states and the natives in our world?
Good question! Not only are they be given the tools, but two nations are actually part of the core five nations that make the initial country. Gediyo (made up of mostly folk surrounding the Storm Lakes) and Matosland (made up of folk of the Thunderous Plains) have full rights and representation in the ARU's Congress.
The cavalry division of the ARU is representative of this, as it incorporates Hussars, Knights and more from Erobian cultures, as well cavalry oriented Military Societies of Gediyo and Matosland.
However, notice that BIG chunk of land?
Yeah, that's NEW territory purchased from Tartessos (not!Spain), and home to a LOT of tribes that have had historical beef with the tribes of Gediyo and Matosland, not to mention descendants of settlers from what used to be New Tartessos, who might not be pleased they got sold out because the mother country was broke and desperate, and the fact that they've JUST recently fought a bunch of the same guys who formed the Republic.
So yeah, while the trajectory of the ARU is a lot more tolerant than the 18th century USA, and the first response is always diplomacy, recognition and compromise (the whole point of the Gable and Galvez expedition), but if the ARU wants to apply force, it's not afraid to do so, and there's a PLENTY of men who just might want to settle old grudges.
A theme in Urvara is that, underneath a lot of the formalities, laws and unwritten codes of honor and rules, human (werefolk) society in Urvara is quite clannish, with a subtle 'Might (Backed up With What You Feel is a Good Cause) Makes Right' cultural mentality, which I'll explore in the future.
