Otherkin And Oppression
Let’s make one thing clear.
Otherkin are not oppressed.
Oppression is much, much more than having people call you an idiot online. If you really need a name for that, call it bullying.
Oppression is something much larger than that. It’s worrying that you’ll be shot for walking down the street. It’s being denied a job because of the color of your skin, or the gender of your significant other, for being who you are. It’s not being able to have faith in the people who are supposed to protect you, because those people have failed you or others like you in the past. That’s oppression you guys, and there are plenty of people out there who face it.
That’s oppression, and otherkin don’t face those problems.
You can be otherkin and oppressed, but you aren’t oppressed because you’re otherkin. Anyone claiming to be oppressed because they’re otherkin is either a troll/joke blog or they’re incredibly confused. Most likely the former, especially if they keep insisting that otherkin are oppressed.

I feel a very strong connection to a universe, but not to any canon characters. If I'm kin with a non canon character, how do I find out more about this character?
It is very possible that you’re kin with a ‘non-canon’ character- a person who simply doesn’t show up in this universe’ depiction of your reality. In order to find out more about who you were, I suggest a lot of various kinds of deep thought.
Meditation, guided or simple
if you’re an artist, try to draw pictures of ‘home’ and ‘yourself’
if you’re a writer, try to clear you mind, sit down, and write about the world
have a friend ask you questions about that world and yourself, and answer from the gut
