Iâll try to select the ones most important to me.
âDzienniki gwiazdoweâ by StanisĹaw Lem (sorry I donât know whatâs the name of English translation, probably something along the lines of âStar Journalsâ). This is a classic to me. The humour and satire of these tales are universal and timeless.
Dark Tower series by Stephen King - these books got me into reading King and they are amazing. I re-read them many times when I still had the time for doing re-reads. My particular faves from the cycle are The Drawing of the Three, The Wastelands and Wolves of Calla.
âPan Lodowego Ogroduâ by JarosĹaw GrzÄdowicz. I donât think it was ever translated, the English title might be âMaster of the Ice Gardenâ. Polish fantasy/sci-fi series, which is amazing. A guy is sent on a mission to find the lost team of scientists on a newly discovered planet, where the culture is eerily similar to vikingsâ culture. And there might be magic. A lot of supernatural things happen, all the hard to explain, bloody deaths and tragedy, the main guy has an awesome, high-tech katana and amazing AI-implant in his head, Hieronim Boschâs paintings come to life, and the ending of the first book oh my god⌠I mean I put only the first book of four here, because itâs my favourite, but the rest is good too.
âAchajaâ by Andrzej ZiemiaĹski. This book. I could talk about it for weeks (I did). Itâs a fantasy about a princess that has to join the army then sheâs practically set up to get captured as a slave by the enemy, sheâs put to work on building the imperial roads, she learns how to fight as the enlightened swordsman, then she escapes to another country where only women rule, but does she have a normal life? Not for long, she is forced to join the army AGAIN and things just get better and better. I canât sum up the awesomeness of this book without writing a whole essay, the awesomeness of all characters, female and male, itâs just too good and very dear to my heart.
âTraitorâ by Matthew Stover - because itâs not just a SW book. This is THE book. I just think about this title and I get all the feels about JACEN. And Vergere, and Jacenâs dhuryam, and Ganner.
