The thing about Fallen Hero is the more comic book superhero content you are exposed to the more you realize how derivative the worldbuilding is. There is nothing FHR presents in the worldbuilding that is super unique, it has all been done in slightly different forms before. What makes FHR unique is the interactive fiction format, an exploration of trauma in its second-person narration, a potential neurodivergent read of the protagonist, and a transgender read that can't be separated from the text at all.
I know I've said it before but I think it's worth saying again because even as someone who doesn't read a lot of superhero comics, I'm exposed to them more than the average FHR fan who has only been exposed to superheroes in cinema. It makes FHR meta commentary so much worse if you have no idea what superhero stories already exist, so you just treat the least interesting parts of FHR as very unique going into it.
AND this is not a response to anything. I was driving to work thinking about what makes the protagonist stand out as a character with telepathic superpowers versus all the other characters with telepathic superpowers and it is mostly what I mentioned above.
