Finstock’s Fucked Up Long Weekend 2020 is officially postponed. 

The replies I got from the poll were unanimous in suggesting a postponed date/delay. Honestly, even if no one responded I probably would have postponed anyway. 

2020 is brutal and everyday I’m just focusing on not getting too optimistic and not too pessimistic. Trying to throw this event and be peppy and force hype into a fandom space didn’t feel right. 

One of you guys suggested February or March, and I’ve got my eye on April as well. I’ll keep the prompts/themes from the initial announcement, and I’ve kept that up as well just in case folks wanted to refresh.

From Friday November 13th, to Sunday November 15th I’m going to bring back Finstock’s Fucked Up Long Weekend! It’s a celebration of all things Coach, and last year was a bunch of fun! I hope to see familiar faces, and hopefully a few new ones. 

Fics, art, moodboards, playlists- it’s all welcome, this is a chill party. We’re not strict on rules. Show up and have a good time, whether it’s by reblogging or creating, let’s just have a good long weekend! 

Like last year, there will be two prompts per day. A Sides will be a little weirder and more open-ended, and B Sides are familiar tropes that we all know and love. 

I hope you guys are excited, and let me know if you have any questions at all!

A Side: Back to School

Ahhh, the taste of apples and stress of new beginnings. What does Back to School mean to you? Is it high school, slice of life in the canon or an AU? Is it coming back from break, night classes, or learning something new from an unexpected teacher at a laundromat at two in the morning? Is it the trials of being in Finstock’s classes? Is it an embittered competition for teacher of the year? The world is your oyster! Go with whatever speaks to you!

B Side: Hurt/Comfort

A classic, H/C has been here for all of us on tough days. Did a lacrosse player get injured? Is the injury more of the heartbreak/yearning type? Take comfort in the classic tropes, and ease the sting of the wound. 

A Side: Lights Out

It’s Saturday, which means we can stay up late! What happens when the lights go out? What lurks in the dark, a monster or a significant other? Did Finstock get his “lights knocked out?” Give me your gritty ideas, broken bulbs on the pavement. Give me the tired musings that can only come from stale coffee, with a flickering light that’s about to turn out. What does impending darkness mean to you? Sleep? Fight? Flight? Get as weird as you want. 

B Side: Soulmates

Soulmates, a timeless classic. Maybe it’s kids in the school finding soulmates, annoying the Coach with all these romances and teen punks running around. Maybe he’s a volunteer counselor for people who don’t have marks. Maybe he finds a soulmate in the weirdest place possible. The choice is yours! 

A Side: Clashing Patterns

We’re winding down, it’s Sunday and hangovers are inevitable. It’s hard to get up and put together an outfit, so clashing patterns are common. Something I love the most about Coach is how loud he is. He’s off putting and weird, like the worst neon print shirt shoved all the way in the back of a vintage shop. He’s what happens when someone plays a country song in one room, and death metal in the other. Embrace the dissonance on this day. Ugly is such a lazy word, let’s find beauty in the things that make us all unique and strange. 

B Side: Free Day

Hey guys, wanted to check in as October is ending. 

Would it be better if this event was cancelled/postponed? 2020 has been a rough year, so I totally understand if folks want to sit this out and process the world.
