the thing is, yaz being gay/in love with the doctor isn’t a surprise. they literally gave us hints almost every episode, the amount of longing stares, couple parallels and the fact yaz’s relationship with the doctor was clearly more intense than ryan/graham/dan’s. jodie and mandip were interviewed by a gay magazine while doing promo, were asked questions relating to yaz and thirteen’s relationship. john bishop liked a tweet saying yaz’s feelings for the doctor were more than platonic for god’s sake!!!
we as gay audiences have been queerbaited, teased and harassed for so long for thinking characters are gay that we just automatically assume we’re delusional and reading into things too much even when watching an obvious planned slow burn. like this is the sad reality so of course the reaction has been insane. all the things we said were there all along actually were??? we were rewarded with such delicate, beautiful scenes and i can’t thank the cast and writers enough for how’s it been pulled off.
this is a win for (not so) delusional gays everywhere
