Last year I managed to finish teh triple tri-- I mean FF VIII remastered! So here’s Squall the Triple Triad Master that follows the heart of the card to guide his journey. FF VIII was my very first video game back in the day, but after more than a decade, I BEAT IT!

Head canon: Laguna goes around searching for his son, calling him “lion cub” in front of everyone.

- okay so like he legit is praised from the beginning of the game after his fight with Seifer so he’s had these expectations for greatness ever since we meet him

- everybody expects him to do great things because he’s a gunblade wielder, so just by his nature, he has everyone looking to him for guidance and as the man who can do it all

- Quistis tries to get to know him and he refuses to let her near him because he doesn’t “want to be anyone’s burden.”

- After he dances with Rinoa, he’s automatically berated for dancing with a stranger by Quistis who, I the same breath, compliments him and professes some weird attraction to him. He literally gets praised and insulted in the same conversation.

- he doesn’t want to get involved in anyone else’s problems because he knows that every time he tries to express his own thoughts, he gets made fun of for being too serious (even from the beginning when Squall refuses to shake Zell’s hand) AND he gets made fun of when he tries to not be too serious. The guy literally can’t win.
