Mikau Blames Others (for Good Things) Part One Million
I notice that I tend to reject personal accountability. When I do something, I blame it on other people. Like doing Lukadrien June. I blamed that on the anon who asked if I were doing it and then all the people who had encouraged me. Even though I was the one who looked at the prompt list and started writing, I denied any culpability. That was wrong of me, and I apologize.
And now, to show that I have learned nothing from this, I’m here today to blame a very talented, wonderful individual:

Fairy!Adrien
When I was working on Lukadrien June 2020 Day Twelve: Enchanted, what image immediately popped into my head? Fairy!Adrien. So now I have three thousand words so far of this Fey!Adrien one-shot, and it is Buggy’s fault (because, as discussed above, I have trouble accepting responsibility for my own actions).
I am a little uneasy about this, though. So, the fair folk tend to be rather flexible with gender identity, so I’m writing Fey!Adrien as gender fluid. I am not a gender fluid individual, and I don’t have a lot of experience writing gender fluid individuals. I have done some research and have read a few books with gender fluid characters, but I’m worried about failing miserably and getting it “wrong” and offending people. -.-; I’m wondering if I should just give up my Fey!Adrien piece and try to do something else for Day Twelve: Enchanted. :/ But other than possibly the gender identity thing, I think the piece is really enjoyable, and I think people would like it, so I kind of would like to share it with people.
As an asexual individual, I know I would love to see more ace representation in the fandom, and I don’t necessarily want to have to write the content “all myself” (yes, I know there are other writers doing asexual characters and I’m not literally the only one doing this. I acknowledge and appreciate your efforts. I’m just exaggerating here because the world is big, and I feel lonely in it). So, I imagine that actual gender fluid individuals don’t want to be the only ones creating content that represents them either. I mean, we’re all allies here, right? So long as I approach this portrayal of a gender fluid Adrien with respect and do my best based in my research, I think it’s okay for me to portray something I’m not.
I mean, let’s be honest: I write gay boys quite often, and I have no experience being male. No one seems to mind. I write bisexual and homosexual and heterosexual characters even though, as an asexual person, I have no experience of sexual desire. I don’t think people have even noticed unless they already know that I’m ace. Maybe not even then.
I kind of wanted to do this piece for #MLPrideFest2020, so I think I’ll post it on the twelfth and see what people think. Many thanks to Buggy for planting the Fairy!Adrien image in my mind. (Please keep making gorgeous art always.)
