Here's a what-to-know-and-do for FEU Alabang SHS Entrance Exam
Hello, I recently took FEU Alabang's SHS Entrance Exam and I made this blog in order to help fellow students who wish to take the exam.
First thing first, prepare all the requirements you needed and have a good night rest the night before you take the exam. Exam schedules for SHS Entrance Exam are held only every Saturday and only at the times of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, so if you chose 8:00 am, you must wake up early and if you chose 1:00 pm, you also have to wake up early if you are not a morning person so you can have time to double check everything and review for the exam.
I personally chose to schedule my exam on 1:00 pm along with a friend of mine, since I'm really not a morning person. It's necessary to arrive 45 minutes before the scheduled time if you live far away to avoid being late. However, if you were late in your scheduled time, you would be rescheduled. Upon arrival, you have to logged in in the waiting area. Without further a do, this is how my exam went.
We were escorted to one of the school's multi-purpose room and supposedly there would be an orientation before the exam starts however, there's no orientation that happened when I took the exam. After a few minutes of waiting, we were guided to another room where the exam would take place.
We started the exam an hour after the scheduled time since the staffs that would assist us were in a lunch break. We were given a test book that contains all the questions and general information about the exam. You would also be given an answer sheet where it is advisable to shade the letters just right. When you fill out necessary informations in the answer sheet (e.g name, strand, school, school's address, etc.), you may use ball pen however, pencils are the only one allowed to use for shading your answers.
The proctor assigned is a college student and really knows how to make people laugh. One thing I notice though is that he has an accent whenever he speaks Tagalog. It also seemed that my friend and I are in luck since he was also extremely helpful.
The exam have a time limit and the proctor may extend the time if there's a few students who haven't finished answering yet. It should be taken note that once the time limit is up, you're not allowed to answer the previous test anymore. The tests are as follows:
Abstract Ability Test, that have a time limit of 15 minutes
Numerical Ability Test, that have a time limit of 25 minutes
Verbal Ability Test, that have a time limit of 15 minutes; and
Science Proficiency Test, that have a time limit of 20 minutes.
The exam lasted for an hour and half and after that, there is a campus tour. Now, this campus tour would really want you to enroll and study at the school and those who already wanted to study here, they would want to study here even more so as everything in the campus seemed to be too good, even the tuition fees is also good.
We were toured by two college students, one is our proctor, and they both explained that they are Elite Scholars, a scholarship program exclusive only to Senior High School graduates of Science High School, and part of the duties of being an Elite Scholars of the school is to proctor exams.
We first went to the temporary library, where I've come to know that the building that would be build this year is where the library would be located in the future. The library would also be a whole floor. The library also have a conference room where you can discuss or have a meeting with your group.
Next, they showed us what the classrooms looked like and explained that students need to scan the QR code that is in the room for attendance. They also said that its possible that this year, the school would allow the parents see their child's activity again, like if he/she attended his/her class.
The next room is perfect for someone who loves to exercise as the fitness gym have the equipments that can be found on other fitness gyms. It also have a separate room only for yoga and to my disappointment, I was not able to see it as we moved on to the next room, the drawing room.
The drawing room is mostly used by Engineering students and is also used by SHS students if the activity requires of the use of the drawing room. Our proctor shared that this room is also used to monitor the student's progress on their activity.
Three facts about me is that I love reading, taking pictures and I love computers or something that's related to advance technology. This is where FEU Alabang surprised me and one of the reasons why I wanted to study here even more so. The campus have a standard computer laboratory and at the corner, there's a room separated by a door and inside is a TV. You may ask, what's so special about it? Well, that is where the school, aspiring game developers and such tests their apps. PS 5 is used to test the games.
I love taking pictures of anything and I'm starting to think that this school is too good to be true. For a change, we took the stairs instead. This is the Multimedia Room, where students majoring in Multimedia Arts mainly use this. However, it can also be used by other students in other strands or courses. What really makes it drop your jaw is that not only it has full equipment but you can also borrow a DLSR Camera to take your shots.
Can you believe it?! The campus does not have one computer lab, but two! Well, this is not called computer lab but is instead called the Mac Lab. You read it right, the campus have a laboratory full of the famous logo, Apple. Fingerprints are used to turn on the computers.
As the students of FEU Alabang like to say, "may twist ang cafeteria namin". Well, on the same room, not far from the tables, there is a stall that charges two pesos for every pages if you want to xerox something.
Although our tour guides didn't plan on showing us this place, with much persuasion, they decided to show us the place. The stalls here opens randomly, no specific day and time so, the place are crowded whenever they're open. We also came to know that some students just brings their water bottle or tumbler and refills it with the cafeteria's water. Don't worry, they have assured us that its safe and saves a lot of money and hussle.
Below the second cafeteria is the school's abandoned cafeteria, the students rarely comes to this place.
Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel FEU Alabang was built in honor of Dr. Lourdes R. Mantinola and was designed by Architect Carmelo Casas. The chapel is open every sunday.
Next to the chapel is the campus garden. A perfect place to relax and enjoy your own world.
Across the garden is the Gymnasium. You can take a shower in the gym.
After the campus tour, we headed back to the Multi-purpose Room where we got our exam results. Now, there are three types of results that you may get. The following are:
Congratulations, where you totally passed the exam, you don't have to be interviewed and you can proceed to enrollment right away. This also mean that you passed all the tests.
Thank you, where you passed but failed to passed a test or two. You'll be interviewed and once done, you can proceed to enrollment.
Sorry, you didn't passed the exam. However, you can take the exam again but you have to pay and schedule your exam again.
Well, before getting our results, our proctor along with his fellow Elite Scholar that toured with us said that we will play a game. The game is to answer their questions, and the questions is about the campus tour and if you answered correctly, there would be a prize. Don't worry, you will also get the prize even if you don't answer, the game is just meant to calm you down if you're nervous since you'll be getting your results.
Although your course or strand don't align with some of these facilities, the campus will let you experience it.
All in all, I passed and you really have to review. Don't be like me and my friend because we reviewed on the way to the campus. You should also expect that once the exam is over, you'll be getting out with only 30% left of your energy since it's totally draining. Despite this, take the exam seriously, have fun and I hope this blog helped you somehow. Thanks for reading!
