The sound ofher name being shouted out and a few rushed, mumbled words caused herears to twitch, lifting her head from her book as she laid on herbed. She knew this place was bad, but was it really getting to Spikethat much? As much as it was wearing on her? It broke her heart tothink he was having nightmares here.
Quickly, sheextended her wings and sprung from her bed to nudge at her friendwith her nose, gently but firmly to wake him up. “Spike! Spike,wake up!” She nudged him again as he was waking up then curledherself up around him, placing a wing over him protectively andnuzzling his cheek.
“It's okay,Spike. I'm right here and I won't let anything hurt you. And I won'tbe leaving you any time soon.” She gave him a smile. “When you'reready, we can go get you some ice cream to make you feel better,okay?” For now she'd just sit there with him, making sure he knewwhat was real and what was just a dream.

Having woken up to a seemingly new environment in some house she wasn’t aware she owned, Twilight sat in the living room, nose firmly planted in a book. Next to her was a rather large pile of books and she seemed incredibly focused, more so than she had been in years, if one were to pay enough attention. Ears perked up, twitching gently before she glanced up to see the little dragon coming into view.
“Oh! Spike! Thank Celestia you’re here.” It would have sounded like she was just grateful to have him there with her, as a friend, if she hadn’t continued that is. “I need the rest of these volumes now. They’re on the shelf.” She stated somewhat dryly then went back to scanning the pages of her current book.

Staring down at her phone, she hesitated. She’d been worried about a few ponies now but sitting among the top was her dearest student. Well, her sister was right alongside her too, but with the other mare living with her she could keep a closer eye on her herself. “Alright, alright, Spike.” Twlight rolled her eyes, giving a playful smile to the little dragon. She wasn’t actually annoyed this time. Horn began to glow with a pinkish hue before it extended to the little dragon. At the end of the spell, a little moustache grew on his face.
“There you go!” The pony nuzzled the dragon before she levitated his bow tie and straightened it, fussing over him a little “Now, you’ll make sure to be safe at this ball, right? With the things that happen in this city and what we know always happens at the Grand Galloping Gala, who knows what could happen?” She sighed, obviously a bit worried about the event. “Are you ready to go then?”

“From what I gather, Spike, there’s a holiday tomorrow where humans...eat a lot of food? I haven’t done my research yet, but if I can find a book on it I’ll be sure to prepare for tomorrow. We should gather everypony though and you could probably cook. Doesn’t that sound fun?”
