Ferndom - Tesuque
Atmospheric/Violin Black Metal from Austin, Texas, US
Vileinist is a musician exploring a new frontier of violin-centric metal. Tesuque, the debut album from FERNDOM, is an atmospheric and melodic black metal work inspired by the towering presence of the New Mexico mountains and the humbling scale of the natural world. Written and performed entirely by Vileinist, the album channels the power and indifference of nature through a dynamic balance of ferocious speed and expansive, soaring melody. Electric violin replaces traditional guitar throughout, emulating the distorted tremolo-picking essential to black metal while allowing lead passages and acoustic interludes to assume a distinctly expressive, violin-centric voice. A journey clocking in at over 40 minutes, the album’s emotional arc moves from somber contemplation to awe, ultimately closing in disdain for mankind’s destructive presence—offering an immersive listening experience rooted in introspection and reflection rather than fleeting spectacle.
