Merja Kokkonen & Tatu Rönkkö “Shamanistic rolling pins” The land of the dead in Finnish mythology is sometimes called Pohjola, which comes from the word pohja, meaning bottom, what lies beneath us, but it is also the land of the far north, a terrible place of dark forests and eternal cold. By falling into a trance, the shaman can travel there to seek the advice of the ancestors, or to learn valuable spells. Join Merja Kokkonen and Tatu Rönkkö for a shamanistic ritual with kitchen utensils.
Merja Kokkonen & Simo Vassinen
Frequent collaborators Merja Kokkonen (Islaja) and Simo Vassinen visit our shared memories of saunas, wombs and ovens in the darkest season of the year. Through music, storytelling and dance, they explore heat, birth, cleansing, purification, disinfection and comfort – as well as breads who do not rise and bodies that are cared for one last time. The duo has previously presented work together at e.g. the former silent cinema Delphi, Sophiensaele and Alte Münze.

GRANDE MUTTERKORN FINALE
Join our celebration for Mutterkorn on Tuesday December 17th, we want to dance with you, eat with you and you to join our final performances.
One last stone soup will be cooked, we are serving our ferments and emptying our jars. Merja Kokkonen and Simo Vassinen will perform "Our Mother the Oven" the mushrooms will share a final dance, Stefanie Wenner will talk you through Mutterkorn and her thoughts against culture, Sepideh Ardalani and Björn Pätz invite to a cocktail bar for inter-species social services accompanied by music "Schlamm" arranged by Jan Wilhelm Vahl together with Nadja Kurz and our special guest DJ OBSALAT aka as Tatiana Saphir will make this last night a party night. Doors open at 8pm! As always, entrance is free of charge, but we would like to ask you for a donation for our shared food.
Be amazed, be part of fermentation, party and digest the rest!

Woche 4:
Mutterkorn war einmal ein Mittel für Abtreibungen, ein überaus heftiges Halluzinogen und eine Bremse in der agrarökonomischen Akkzeleration. Auch ohne Einnahme von Tränken aus Mutterkorn hat sich der Raum von FERMENT : MUTTERKORN in den letzten drei Wochen zu einem Tempel der Entschleunigung entwickelt. Wenn Teige 24 Stunden und mehr brauchen, ein Teigstarter aus den 1930er Jahren bei uns eingezogen ist, Gemüse Tage bis Wochen oder Monate fermentieren, wenn Entwicklung mäandert anstatt fortschreitet, dann sind wir mitten in der 12, mitten im Wechsel, nah an etwas Neuem. Noch 9 Tage bleiben uns, um das zu zelebrieren. Wir widmen diese Woche erneut der Praxis von Rezept als Raum mit Sepideh Ardalani, dem Roti backen und der Hörpraxis von Sara Mikolai, musikalischer Begleitung von Jan Wilhelm Vahl. Special Guest ist in dieser Woche Markus Shimizu, der Begründer von mimiferments Berlin, der am Freitag einen Workshop zur Herstellung von Miso bei uns anbietet. Recipe as room w/ Sepideh Ardalani Sepideh Ardalani plays with herbs. She spans spaces that invite us to grapple with questions about the relationship between human and environment. With Massia Officinale she is currently weaving a platform for multi-perspective approaches to this broad topic. The project acts as an extension of the artist’s residence MASSIA, located on the Estonian coast, with herb garden, communal pharmacy and archives of various knowledge. Fotos: Robert Brandes
