I always see people in fandoms saying they like gay ships, like Fen/Baldwin, because they like the idea of a positive character, like impossible to dislike Baldwin, being LGBT and I hate that!

Not because I don't want Baldwin to be LGBT because I 100% think he's gay as fuck and I love the idea of non-binary Baldwin. What I hate is the idea that Baldwin's sexuality is some how dependent on the nature of his relationship with Fen. Like, are you saying a bi guy and a gay guy can't be just friends? Like, two boys who are into boys can't be around each other without being romantic? It's like saying boys and girls can't just be friends. It's inaccurate and stereotypical and potentially harmful. 

Like think about it, we almost never see two gay characters co-exist in media as just friends unless one's a gay guy and one is a lesbian. In fact usually there's just one gay character and their love interests and, like that’s not how life works? Honestly I think, while the increase in representation on tv and in books is great, we tend to see LGBT characters as "will take anything they can get" or we see writers creating LGBT characters for the soul purpose of romantic shipping and that's just wrong.

But in summary my point is, let Baldwin be gay all by his damn self! He doesn't need help. Unless it’s my bisexual Fen muse talking him up to cute guys in bars like a good wingman.

What's an rp?

hi! it’s short for ‘roleplaying’ which is done through writing. i do it on jcink forums (but there are also some on tumblr). there’s an overall theme or plot. then everyone (aka ‘members’) sign up to join, pick a character. they can be made up characters or ‘canon’ ones (ex. if it’s a harry potter site/forum, then canons are harry, hermione, ron, etc. if it’s set in the potter era. james, sirius, remus, etc. if it’s set in the marauders era). you then go on to ‘write’ as those characters. you engage with other characters through ‘threads’. in threads, you and other members take turns posting as your character. lengths of posts can vary. there’s a bit more to it than that but that’s the gist of it!
